Hi I'm Ben

I'm a Cardiac Physiologist. I'm a student. I'm a follower of Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a large family and grew up in the tiny towns and villages of Suffolk, England. I love the beauty of the countryside and enjoy taking time to explore nature whenever I can. I studied for my undergraduate degree in Wales and had plenty of opportunities to visit many of its stunning climbs, beaches, waterfalls and forests. As a cardiac physiologist keeping fit and active is very important to me. I run or cycle every day as well as play in a variety of sports. Working full-time in a hospital environment can take its toll sometimes and I find physical exercise a great way to de-stress and clear the mind. As well work I am also currently doing a part-time Masters degree in translational cardiovascular medicine. Oh yeah, and I am getting married to a gorgeous welsh lady in a few months time.

Why I am a Mormon

I cannot remember an age where I didn't believe in Christ. I have about a billion memories of instances where the existence of God was just obvious to me. This meant that growing up I just needed to get to know who He was. Through experience I soon learned that He loves me and all of us. I learnt that He is willing to help, teach, guide, comfort, forgive and strengthen us in a way that is tailor suited to our best interest. In my early teenage years I was challenged to read The Book of Mormon for ten minutes every day. During that process I felt God teach me in a profound way that the book was exactly what it claimed to be, another witness of Christ and evidence that Joseph Smith was another prophet. Today I try to follow Christ's teachings in the way that I live my life. I feel His help to do this, especially when I ask for it and when I focus on Him and others. I feel more able to cope with the demands of the day when I am living in a way that means that I am close to Him.

How I live my faith

Knowing that God exists and cares about me impacts how I prioritise what I do. In fact, praying to Him is always one of the first and last things I do each day. I feel connected to Him throughout the day as I have genuine and honest communications with Him. Studying the scriptures is also a vital part of keeping myself connect with things that are spiritual on a daily basis. These two simple activities have greatly impacted my life for good!!! At the moment I am a Stake (multiple congregations) young mens president. This involves helping to support the youth program of the church in and around our area. The 'youth program', in my mind, is a great way to help support the youth (12-18 year olds) in their continuing journey to learn about Christ, His teachings and His way of life.
