Hi I'm Leslie

I'm a Ghanian-American, journalist, music enthusiast and a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. My parents are natives from Ghana, and I myself lived there for 4 years as a child. I have loved growing up with both Ghanaian and American cultures, they are apart of who I am. I also love to learn about other cultures and I dream about traveling around the world. I love art, literature, and history. I am currently attending college in Hawaii studying as an English Major and Communications Minor. I work as a multimedia journalist in my school's news center and I absolutely love it! I plan to go into publishing and electronic media as a career. In my free time I like to cuddle up with blankets and a good book. Music makes my world go round! I love all types of music from Bach to Beyonce to the Beatles. I listen to music at all times and in all moods. I love to sing, play the piano, and pull out my amateur dance skills every now and then. I am excited as I am about to embark on a 18 month mission in Birmingham, England.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know that this is the restored gospel and church of Jesus Christ. I chose to live my life as a Latter-Day Saint because I want to live the happiest life possible and the gospel gives me that. I know that I will attain eternal life and eternal happiness as I chose to follow God's commandments. The scriptures guide me in getting answers and comfort in times of need. Being a Mormon isn't about the dress you wear to your baptism or the photographer you chose for your temple wedding photos, it's about coming unto Christ and being perfected in him. It's about serving those around with pure love. It's about praying to Heavenly Father and thanking Him for the innumerous amounts of blessings He lays upon you every single day. It's about utilizing the Atonement and repenting when you make mistakes, and becoming better. I am a Mormon because I love my Heavenly Father and He has asked us to do these things and I chose to.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example. I absolutely love the New Testament verse 1 Timothy 4:12, which reads "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity". I am an example to the people around me by striving to be like Jesus Christ. He is the perfect example of how to live. I live and show my faith through conversation, when I serve, with my countenance, and through my actions. There are many things in this world that I am unsure of, but my faith in the gospel is not one. I am so grateful to have a faith that guides and directs my life on a path that brings me happiness and blessings. As I live my faith I grow stronger every day and closer to my Heavenly Father. I get through my days by fervent prayer and scripture study.
