Hi I'm Elder Colton Hovinghoff

I'm from Mount Pleasant, Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Elder Colton Hovinghoff I am a servant of the lord Jesus Christ, called of him through prophecy and revelation and assigned to serve in the Texas San Antonio mission. I have been sent to teach repentance and baptize converts. This is who I am and this is why I am here! My purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.

Why I am a Mormon

I was thinking about those I know who are struggling with their testimonies right now, and I thought about if I 100% know the gospel to be true, and everything that goes with it. I'm grateful for how I was able to answer that to myself, that yes I 100% do know for myself. The blood of the Restoration flows through my veins. And it's also one of the qualities of a true TSAMer. I have always had a deep faith in the restored gospel and in Joseph Smith as the prophet of the Restoration, but as I was really thinking about it, I felt it in me that this is now who I am. I am a product of the Restoration. I am living it, and there is not one single doubt in my mind that Jesus Christ's true teachings and authority have been brought back. And there is so much that comes with it. Every part of my life is the way it is because of the Restoration. My family is not temporary, but eternal because of it. I have true and full access to the Atonement. I know the plan Heavenly Father has for me. We have baptism by proper authority. We have the Book of Mormon to guide us. The blood of the Restoration does flow through my veins! It is who I am, and who I will become. It is what I will live for, die for, and it is what has changed me. I see with brand new eyes the world and this life, and that blood of the Restoration will never leave my body. "I have learned for myself."

How I live my faith

Over the years, as I have studied church history, and as I have read of those who were true to the faith and those who were not, I have often wondered, “Would I have been true to the Prophet? Would I have defended the faith? Would I have been willing to stand with Joseph?” The real question, however, is “Am I faithful today? Do I defend the faith today? Do I stand with the Prophet today?” Paul gave this invitation: “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves” (2 Cor. 13:5). We should quietly move forward, doing the work we were called to do. Remember the example of Christ: “...they scourge him, and he suffereth it; and they smite him, and he suffereth it. Yea, they spit upon him, and he suffereth it, because of his loving kindness and his long-suffering towards the children of men” (1 Ne. 19:9). To follow the Lord is to give him ALL our heart, ALL our might, ALL our mind, All our strength
