Hi I'm Johnny Ros

I grew up in Syracuse, New York. I'm a High School Graduate, a former Boy Scout, an outgoing Cambodian-American and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I used to practice my trumpet for 8 years. When I was a Junior and Senior in High School, I played with the Jazz Band. During my four years of High School, I played with the Concert Band and the Marching Band. I am a Doctor Who fan. I love playing Pokemon Go with my iPhone a lot. I love spicy food. I love camping out in the outdoors to be away from the city at times. I was a full-time missionary at the Cambodia Phnom Penh Mission. I am going to college soon at Onondaga Community College and I actually love being around diverse people.

Why I am a Mormon

I realized that as I read the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, I've learned for myself that it compliments and goes along with the Holy Bible. I chose to be a member of His church because I learned and knew for myself that the Book of Mormon is literally another testament of Jesus Christ, and on top of that I knew what my purpose is in my life while I am born on this earth knowing Heavenly Father's plan. I was a stubborn person before I get to know my first missionaries because I didn't know who Joseph Smith Jr. was, what makes him so important on this earth as a modern day prophet and what's the point about the Book of Mormon when we have the Holy Bible. Today, I knew for myself that he was a prophet of God, he saw God and his son Jesus Christ in the First Vision. When he prayed for the truth, he spent majority of his life on translating the Book of Mormon by the power of God because there are truths from this book that is meant to be shared all over the world before he got martyred and for my experience as an actual convert of the church that's how much I make His church a big deal in my life. He's gone through a lot to make sure that the gospel of Jesus Christ is fully restored on this earth and after all he's done for God, I am eternally grateful for what he has done for Him. I wouldn't live a happier life if it weren't for His restored Gospel on this earth, the Book of Mormon, and knowledge of why it goes along with the Holy Bible. I always wanted to be a member of the true church of Jesus Christ since I knew the truth as I prayed about it, so I chose to be baptized and confirmed a member of this church. This is my testimony and experience of why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I usually live my faith by praying often to Heavenly Father everyday. I show up constantly to my home ward to fellowship and worship in Church every Sunday. I talk to my own family at times about the Gospel and how it truly blessed our lives today. I even converse with my mom in Khmer (Cambodian language) to share about how important the Doctrines wee learn are important for us today and why it's important to apply the doctrines and gospel principles we learn since we study the scriptures . I used talked to my friends when I was in High School about what I believe and why I live with high standards. I sometimes remember scriptures I read and learn before, so that way I can apply it on my life today. I also live my faith by being the missionary I feel that the Lord wants and needs me to be, even when I returned from Cambodia I still strive to help others in my hometown understand this Church so we can understand at best! I also try my best to serve others at random just so I can see the happiness they have from seeing one helping another with love!

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Johnny Ros
No, not at all. Although we talk about him often. We worship God our Eternal Father, and his son Jesus Christ who is risen. The case is we acknowledge that he was a Prophet of God, and we understood what he did in his life to make sure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is fully restored. For example, Joseph Smith Jr. had prayed in a sacred area in Palmyra, NY called the Sacred Grove. Over there is where he saw God and his son Jesus Christ in the First Vision as he prayed for the truth. He's known as the Prophet of God who translated the plates found at another area called Hill Cumorah, and we're eternally grateful for his work for God as he translated The Book of Mormon by the gift and power of God. So remember we don't worship Joseph Smith Jr. and we truly worship God our Eternal Father, and his son Jesus Christ who is risen. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Johnny Ros
The missionaries share what they know about Jesus Christ and the importance of His Atonement for anyone! They talk about questions you may have for them concerning what you need to know, so that way you can understand and receive answers on what you need to know about. They also teach Heavenly Father's Plan of Salvation, which allows all people the opportunity to return to Him. Show more Show less
