Hi I'm James Eveskcige

I love to camp, hike, hunt and work on cars and trucks. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Some of my favorite things to do are work on cars and trucks. I love going fast and four wheeling in trucks. I also love to go camping and hiking. I really love the outdoors, and love to hunt for deer and elk. I am an American Indian. I am also VERY happy to be serving my mission in Des Moines, Iowa! I love this gospel so much that I am currently giving two years of my young adult life to serve my Lord. I have a wonderful girlfriend (who is currently also serving a mission in the Texas Houston South mission) who I have said goodbye to for two years, my family, my car, my little pup aussie, and I don't regret it one bit! I know I will be blessed for my efforts!

Why I am a Mormon

This church has helped me in every aspect. I love it with all my heart. through Camp Helaman I was able to learn of the love that my Savior, Jesus Christ, not only has the deepest love for me, but for every living soul here on earth. I KNOW that my Father in Heaven loves me and wants me and all his children to be the best people we know how to be, and through the correct steps return to live with him. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet called in these latter days to restore the TRUE gospel to this earth. I know that through the power of God, ONLY that holy power, he was able to translate the Book of Mormon into modern language so we can have the fullness of God's church. I know that each and every teaching that the LDS church teaches and believes is revelation from our Heavenly Father himself, to help bring us closer to him and his son, Jesus Christ. Sometimes when laying in bed at night, I ponder the different beliefs that we, as Mormons, have. It honestly all makes sense! everything works together to all make perfect sense. There are no unanswered questions, no mysteries, nothing within our religion is strange. A lot of people think it is, but when you understand the message we teach, everything falls into place and makes perfect sense. This church truly has brought me true and everlasting happiness. That is not because I was raised in the church. I fell away from the church and when I came back I experienced the most sweet joy!

How I live my faith

I love the gospel! Every aspect of it! I have served in a few different callings growing up in the church, I have been in a few presidencies for different aged priesthood classes. I also served in the presidency of a boys summer camp for 16-19 year olds, called Camp Helaman. That is so far one of the best experiences I have encountered in this church. Camp Helaman is an amazing camp that in previous years changed my life. To be able to serve in the presidency and give back to the camp was truly amazing! I am now serving as a full time missionary for the church in the Des Moines Iowa mission, I will be here for two years, teaching the message of the Restored Gospel to all who will here! I am also striving everyday of my life to become better so that after my mission I can enter into the temple of the Lord to be married to my wonderful sweetheart for eternity! This is my ultimate goal in life, and will forever be my objective to be worthy to enter the house of the Lord!

How does the Church finance its operations?

James Eveskcige
the LDS church asks its members to pay a 10% tithe, or in other words give 10% of all income they receive to the church. with this money all church expenses are paid. whether these are paying the light bills at local meeting houses, or building temples, or doing humanitarian work; none of the money goes to any of the teachers or preachers. our church does not have paid ministry. all the people who serve in the church do it by service. What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

James Eveskcige
a Mormon lifestyle is what I believe is the happiest lifestyle. the way that Mormons strive to live their lives is the way that is taught in the scriptures. always striving to be more Christ like. having a positive attitude about the challenges we all face in this life. A lot of people may think that the "Mormon lifestyle" is too strict or no fun. according to the worlds standards that may be the case. in my life I have found that living the church teaching to best of my ability has brought me much more joy then in other lifestyles. people outside of our church may also think that the word of wisdom (no drugs, alcohol, or tobacco) is a strict mandatory rule where if broken you are no longer considered a member of our church. this is not true. when these types of rules are broken there is no disciplinary action, you simply lose the blessings and promises from God. I like to think of it not necessarily as a rule, but a guideline for success. following the "rules" or guidelines of the church has brought me many blessings in my life! I know that as others strive to follow these commandments from God, they too will receive blessings because of it. Show more Show less
