Hi I'm Brent

I grew up in Canada, and yes I love hockey. I put people to sleep (and wake them up) for my job. I'm a mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Calgary, Canada where I developed a love for the mountains, skiing, hiking, and camping. As with most Canadians, I also love hockey. I also like history. I am married to a talented, caring wife and we have 5 children. We live in Utah. I worked as an operating room nurse for 8 years before deciding to take my whole family to Florida to complete a Master's degree in anesthesia. It was hard but so worth it! I have been putting people to sleep and finding joy and relief waking them up again for the past 2 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ and know it is true. Growing up I always attended church meetings and youth activities, and felt good about what I learned. I felt in my heart that what I was being taught was right and I knew the teachings would help me become a better person. Although I had doubts about some principles of the gospel, through scripture study and earnest prayers and fasting, I came to know of the Gospel's truth. I knew that obeying the commandments and striving to live as the Savior wanted me to, would help me become like him and know him. I also knew that if I did those things, I would be much happier in this life. This knowledge led me to serve a full time mission for our church in order to share this knowledge with others. My missionary service helped me grow in many ways. It helped me gain a firm testimony of The Book of Mormon, of living prophets, the restoration of the gospel as it once was during Christ's time, and of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice in our behalf. My testimony gives me daily motivation to improve myself and make better choices. It is sometimes difficult and challenging to make the right choices all of the time, but I know that our Savior loves us and will give us the help we need to follow him if we exercise faith in him.

How I live my faith

I currently live in a community of faithful Christians where I serve as a leader for a local congregation. I help our Bishop with the daily tasks of "watching over the flock". I also oversee activities of our young men's group and school age children and give guidance and instruction. I also help ensure our local scout group is functioning properly. It is sometimes time consuming, but gives me great joy serving those around me, especially when I get to participate in fun activities and camps with them. It is by associating with our friends and neighbours through service that we build each other up and bring hope to them during hard times. Helping them feel important and loved is how I try to be like the Savior. This is what the Savior did for his people and what he does for us now. Trying to act as he did brings me joy because I know I am doing what is right.
