Hi I'm Patricia Lake

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I are both retired. I am a mother of five children - 2 sons and three daughters - a grandmother of 20 and a great grandmother of 6 with three more on the way. I graduated from the University of Utah a long time ago in Foods and Nutrition. The thing I enjoy doing most is being with my family, whatever the occasion. I also enjoy visiting with friends, reading and doing handwork.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, though my father was not a participating member for much of my childhood. Many of my ancestors left their homelands in Europe after they joined the Mormon Church. They immigrated to America and came to Utah in the 1800's. I was taught as a child that it is important for me to be faithful in obeying the precepts of the Mormon faith. I attended religion classes while in high school and at the university. I married a man who is also LDS. We were married in the LDS temple which promises us the blessing of eternal marriage. Each of our 5 children were also married in the temple. Our sons served as missionaries, one in Germany, one in Colombia. My faith is the basis of my life. It is the guide by which I measure my life. I cannot imagine what my life would be like if I were not actively involved in the LDS faith. I have no doubt that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father, that He has a plan for me and for all His children. I know that His son, Jesus Christ, came to earth to show us how to live and to perform the atoning sacrifice for each of us so that we can have the opportunity to return to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. All of this is based, of course, our individual faithfulness and obedience to God's commandments. I know that the church which Jesus Christ established while he lived on the earth was lost and that in 1820 he visited Joseph Smith and called him to re-establish his church on the earth. That church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and we have a prophet today who leads this church. His name is Thomas S. Monson. He is the spokesman for Christ on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I do volunteer work for my church in the women's organization. I also work in the LDS temple. I volunteer in the public schools and at a museum. I visit some of my neighbors on a regular basis. I have been a missionary in Germany for a total of 4 1/2 years. I also served in an inner city project for some years helping people with fundamental needs.
