Hi I'm Mary

I love to travel and to write. I'm a college student and missionary. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a college student who's a jack of all trades, master of none. I'm currently working on a degree in Spanish Education, though I've spent time as a mechanical engineer and have a passion for writing. I love to volunteer in various ways and have been a part of many different clubs including rock-climbing, swing dancing, and Arnold Air Society, among others. I love the variety that can be found in the world and have enjoyed exploring all that the Lord has created for us in this world. I do this through travel and through exploring the places and things around me. I find joy in the little details and in the grand scope of creation.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a house that believed in God, but never really went to church or made faith a part of daily life. I spent much of my youth seeking after Jesus, but though I tried several different churches and denominations with my family and friends, I never really felt right. I never felt the peace I was looking for. Then in high school, I became friends with a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He started talking with me about the Church and invited me to take lessons with the missionaries. When my parents said they didn't want me meeting the missionaries, I took lessons from my friend instead. I spent that summer hearing about the gospel while we sat out by a campfire. I studied the bible every night and brought my questions back the next evening. I began reading the Book of Mormon and had read it all the way through by the time Christmas rolled around. I fell in love with the Gospel that fall but, due to the situation with my parents, it wasn't until the spring that was finally able to attend church. Even though it has been years, I can still remember the feeling of peace from the first time that I went. It was what I had be looking for for so long. I knew that the Lord had led me to his church. I made the decision to be baptized, but waited to see it through until the fall when I moved out of the house. Since then I have seen my love for the gospel grow and have witnessed it bring about amazing miracles in my life. I am thankful everyday for the peace I feel through the companionship of the Holy Ghost and for the chance to grow closer to my Savior day by day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in my community and in the young singles branch that I attend. I've been a teacher and lead in the women's program. I do my best to show those in my life a reflection of the love that I feel from my Lord and Savior. I am now preparing to serve a full-time mission for the Church.
