Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a husband and father of two boys and a girl on the way. I work as an economic consultant. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am first and foremost a husband and father (two boys and a girl on the way). My wife and children are my pride and joy. Don't get me wrong, I find great joy working in Washington, D.C. as an economic consultant (a job I really enjoy), playing basketball, tennis, and any outdoor activity I can get involved with. I love history (a plus in this area), learning, and even studying for the LSAT. I love volunteering for my church, for local food banks, helping neighbors move in and out, and pushing the broken down car out of the middle of DC traffic. But deep down, I'm a family man because they are what make me the most happy. Heaven is real and it starts and continues in the home.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a household full of Mormons. My dad was a convert to this faith and is still the only member of his family but being a Mormon is really all I have ever known. One might say that I am a Mormon because I don't know any better. That person would be wrong. I am a Mormon because of each and every time I put this religion to the test. You may or may not know this, but in our faith we do not drink alcohol, smoke, or do anything harmful to our bodies. We give of our time to serve in our church. Many of us leave life behind and serve full-time missions (I served two years in Germany)...these are not cake walks. We believe in the Bible, Book of Mormon, and many other modern day revelations (revealed by modern day prophets, President Thomas S. Monson being the current prophet and leader of our church), and commit to frequent study of the same. Many people will look at me and the decisions I have made in my life and wonder why I choose to waste my precious "party stage" of life. Why am I not doing what many others my age are? Why did I decide to have a family at a young age (leaving behind the freedom of youth). Well, my wife was a big influencing factor in that (she's amazing and beautiful), but in reality it's because every time I have done something the Lord has asked me to do, I have been blessed and found more joy than I otherwise would have. So why am I a Mormon? Because I know that this is where I can find the true Word of God. And I couldn't ever think of a better option than following the Lord.

How I live my faith

I mentioned this in the "About Me" section, but I love volunteering my service for my church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) and local community (friends and neighbors included). I'm currently serving my church as the Ward Clerk. Basically, I'm the one that keeps track of the contact information, attendance, and assignments of everyone in our congregation. I really enjoy this because it helps me to get to know many people I otherwise might not have. I also serve as a home teacher which gives me the opportunity to teach three specified families each month. More importantly, I get to be their 24/7 friend and hope they will call on me if ever they need help.
