Hi I'm Chris Gutierrez

I grew up in New Canaan, Connecticut. I'm a true blooded Aggie. I love to eat. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from a small town called New Canaan in Connecticut. I've only played volleyball and soccer competitively but I enjoy playing all sports. I'm also a huge football fanatic and forever a Miami Dolphins fan. On a relaxing day, I love to be with my friends and family. But if that's not possible, a day watching any type of sport qualifies as a successful day. I used to be the youngest in my family for about 14 years until my little brother, Nick decided to take the spot. I'm a student at Utah State University and majoring in Business Administration. I was raised as a Mormon and currently preparing to serve a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been called to serve in the Chile, Vina del Mar mission and report to the Missionary Training Center in Chile on November 19.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it helps me become the man I want to be by living the gospel principles each day. I have people ask me why I'm always so happy. The only answer that comes to mind is that the gospel helps me feel that way. I have experienced many trails in this life like everyone else. Some hurt more than others but I know I can always turn to my Heavenly Father and the Book of Mormon for guidance and comfort. Heavenly Father has blessed all of us by providing the Book of Mormon that helps us with our questions, concerns and provides comfort when we need it. In prayer, Heavenly Father has helped me see that we do not walk alone on this Earth. I have felt the Spirit so strongly throughout my life. I can never deny that this is the truth. I continue to follow this gospel because I know that it is true and I want to continue to experience all the marvelous blessings with my family and my future family. This gospel fills me up with light and I know that's why I always feel happy. By obeying God's commandments I can feel true happiness on this Earth. I'm a Mormon and I love it!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by my actions. I want to be example to others and let them see that by living the gospel standards one can truly enjoy the blessings it comes from it. I've had the privilege to work in a variety of callings. Throughout my years as a Deacon, teacher, and Priest. I was called to be secretary twice and a second counselor. A deacon is an office of the Aaronic Priesthood and held responsibilities such as passing the sacrament and collecting fast offerings from the ward. Our congregations (wards) are organized geographically and members attend the one closer to their home. A teacher is a higher office of the Aaronic Priesthood and are in charge of watching over the church (D&C 20:53-60). But we held monthly meetings focused on ways to keep the quorum united and welcome any newcomers. My senior year in high school I was called to be a Youth executive representing my ward. With the other Youth executives from our stake, we gathered up to plan fun activities for the youth. By providing an atmosphere where the youth could feel comfortable and relax; it welcomed the spirit into our activities. Freshman year of college, I was called to be the Ward Prayer coordinator. I quickly fell in love with this simple but unique calling. I loved that as a group, we knelt down and prayed for anything that we were struggling with or were thankful for from our Heavenly Father. This helped increased my faith in The Lord and love towards my fellow ward members. The calling I currently have is a Primary worker. If there is one thing I am taking the most out of this calling, it's patience. My future calling beginning November 19, will be as a missionary in the Chile, Vina del Mar mission. I want to help others come unto Christ because I know it is the only way to be truly happy in this life. What I discovered is that through diligent scripture reading, daily prayer and thoughts/feelings of comfort; I can feel how much my Heavenly Father loves me and blesses me.
