Hi I'm Brian Duncan

I am a dentist living in Taylorsville, Utah. I love traveling, the outdoors and spending time with my family. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I was born and raised a "mormon" kid in Salt Lake City, Utah. My life has been unique and blessed. Here is a little bit about me and my family. My Dad was raised in South Africa during World War II. He met some friends who gave him a Book of Mormon and he gladly read it and joined the Mormon faith. He came to America as a young man to start a new life. He and my mother met in college and they raised a good family. We took trips across the country all crammed in a station wagon and I learned as a boy to appreciate other places and other people. Remarkably, I was called to serve a mission in South Africa as a young man. I lived there for two years and again, I learned what life was like outside of what I knew. I saw so much poverty and desperation in Africa and my simple home in Utah became a palace. Because of what my parents sacrificed for me, I grew up in a safe, loving, and happy home. Because of my parents and kind neighbors, I learned to love the Lord. I was given opportunities in school that others don't receive in much of the world. I am now a dentist and am raising a big bunch of kids of my own. I enjoy working with people and helping them feel better. Most of all, I love spending time with my family. I love travelling to new places with my wife and kids. We love the beach and the mountains. I love to be outdoors and my favorite activities include mountain biking, watersports and sitting down under a tree to read a book.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a "Mormon", when I have had so many chances to stop and live a different life? Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has brought me great happiness. Sure, my parents raised me in the church but everyone is encouraged to have their own conversion. My conversion has been built on a thousand influential experiences and inspiring moments. I have visited other faiths and have studied diligently to know the truth. I know in my heart that what I have been taught is from God. This church has helped me to have a real relationship with the Savior and with my Heavenly Father. It isnt always easy to be a member of this church but it brings long lasting joy as we all have been asked to serve each other and to look outside of ourselves. Without the church, I wouldn't have my family or the Lord in my life. I thank the Lord everyday for allowing me to follow in His steps and to help others in their journey.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith with gratitude. Our Savior gave His life for us and I am grateful for what He did. I am indebted to Him for His friendship and love. So because of Him, I try to be kind and to not judge others. Because of Him I try to never say no when I'm asked to serve in the church. I think about my grandfather who died at a young age in the war and how he would have loved to go to church. I try to live my life for him and for those who never got to receive so much. I have enjoyed every task I've been given. I especially love working with the youth. It seems like I have been involved in the Boy Scouts for much of my adult life. I love watching a young impressionable boy grow and mature into a faithful, responsible man. I have great faith in the youth of this generation and I love spending time with these children of God. One of my favorite things to do is to sit in primary class and sing songs of faith with the 3 year olds!
