Hi I'm Margaret

I speak Hebrew. I'm serving a mission. I'm a feminist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the next year and a half in Russia. Prior to my mission, I was a college student studying Hebrew and acting. I'm the youngest of 5 children, and I am more spoiled because of it. I have two nephews and a niece who bring me so much happiness and joy whenever I have a chance to see them. I want to go into a career which will help me change the world for the better and make it a more beautiful place for us all to live in.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, but I am a Mormon because I choose everyday to be. Following Jesus Christ has been the best choice I have ever made. It was a choice I made and stuck firmly to about two years ago. When I was a junior in high school, I noticed a difference between what I felt when I chose to try to be a little bit better of a person and when I chose to just have fun. When I was choosing to be a better person by follow Christ's example to reach out, love, and serve others I felt happier even on hard days. When I chose to follow Christ's example to love myself and choose the best things I knew that I was making choices that would ultimately lead to a happy, fulfilling life. Having fun is fun, but having meaning behind what I did changed how I felt about the world and myself. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that our Heavenly Parents want us to return to them because they love us. I know that the Book of Mormon only teaches truth, and because of this I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and all the prophets that have followed after him have been and are called of God. I know the Bible to have truth. And I know that there has been a path created for us all to return to live with our Heavenly Father, our Heavenly Mother, and our Savior again.

How I live my faith

Since I am currently serving a mission, my entire day is centered completely around Heavenly Father. I know that He loves all His children and that because of that, I need to share the message of the gospel with them. I have felt His love and I have begun to see that love for others as well. The joy it brings me to see how His love and His Son's love can change lives is indescribable. I know that as I serve and as I love His children through teaching them of His gospel, serving them, and helping them grow closer to Him, I will likewise grow closer to Him and will become more than I ever imagined.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Women and men hold equal importance in the church. Every prophet of the church has been married because the prophet and his wife make up a team that together lead the church. Marriage and family are central to Mormon belief. In the The Family: A Proclamation to the World, it states "fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners". Relief Society, the organization in the church that is run by women, is the oldest and largest women's organization in the world. Our motto is "Charity Never Faileth" or that through service and love we can come to be more like Christ. The gospel also teaches men to respect women and to not be afraid to be tender, gentle, and caring. At the same time, it also teaches women to love themselves and through that to love others. Women frequently speak in church meetings to the entire congregation and pray during meetings. Women are full participators in every aspect of the church. Show more Show less
