Hi I'm Justine Hampton

Youngest of 7, aspiring Spanish teacher, lover of dogs, sports and all things outdoors, and... social caterpillar?

About Me

I am attending Brigham Young University as I study to become a Spanish teacher, but I have put school on hold as am a missionary serving in Orlando, Florida. I am from central California, and most of family is Catholic. I have awesome parents and 6 older siblings. I love roller coasters, chocolate, learning, dogs, hiking, sports, helping others, movies, and the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Why I am a Mormon

I feel peace and happiness associated with obedience and when I live my life in harmony with what God asks of me. Living the gospel makes me want to become a better person, and to help others. The spirit testifies to me of my worth and potential. The things I learn make sense to my spirit.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by working hard to become the person that Heavenly Father wants me to become. I try to love and serve others. I live an honest life, and I try to learn and progress in all that I do. When I make mistakes, I see them as learning opportunities that can bring me closer to my Savior Jesus Christ. It isn't easy, but I know that I am a daughter of God, that He loves me, and wants nothing other than my success. I am a missionary in Orlando Florida, and I spend my time by teaching others about the hope and beauty of the restored gospel.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Justine Hampton
Even within the Old and New Testaments, God continued to reveal further truths to his children. When the 10 commandments were established, some people might have been shocked at the "new" doctrine. The same ocured when the Savior, Jesus Christ began His teachings, which were slightly different from what they had previously followed. God is constantly showing His love for us be revealing things we need, and are ready to understand and obey at that time. The Restoration allows us to have the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We now have the Priesthood, or the authority from God, to perform ordinances like Baptism and Temple work, for both the living and the dead. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Justine Hampton
Men hold the Priesthood, but all people men and women can access the blessings. Similarly, women can "hold" a baby for 9 months, but both the mother and father have access to the blessings and joys of parenthood. God is a God of order, and allows no one to be forgotten. The Priesthood is the Power of God on the Earth, and that alone is a miracle! Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Justine Hampton
When Adam and Eve partook of the fruit, they allowed the possibilties of sin and death into our lives. Because we all would sin, there has to be consequences for sins (like breaking a law and paying a fee). We would remain filthy and sinful if we did not suffer the price of our sins. Such a price is not bearable to any human being, therefore making it impossible to be cleansed from our mistakes. Our loving older brother is the Son of God and could endure more pain and suffering than we. He offered to accept the consequences of everyone's decisions to allow us to be clean and worthy to live in the presence of God. He was killed and rose again, overcoming death, and allowing us to do so as well some day. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, He understands our pains and weaknesses. He knows exactly how to comfort us. Show more Show less
