Hi I'm Emma

I'm from Chicago. I am a triathlete, who doesn't like running. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a missionary, a student, a daughter, a sister and a child of God. I was a competitive swimmer throughout grade school and high school and a soccer player too. I plan to pursue my interest in anatomy and eventually attend graduate school either to become a Physician’s Assistant or a Doctor. I love realistic graphite drawing, graphic design and anything to do with the creative process. As the only Mormon in my grade of 1,100 students in high school, I often felt isolated but found great empowerment and strength as I worked hard to uphold my beliefs and exercise faith.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to live the gospel of Jesus Christ because it provides me with the hope and assurance that the person I choose to be, the missionary, the sister, the wife, the mother, the friend, has the potential to become like God. I know we have a loving Heavenly Father that has given us the gift to be able to choose to follow His son Jesus Christ, and that by doing so we can experience peace and strength. I believe in the power of prayer. I know that we have a Heavenly Father who listens to us and is concerned with the details of our lives. I know that if I pay the price to learn of my Savior and be an honest seeker of truth, like Joseph Smith was, I am entitled to personal revelation. I know that the Atoning sacrifice of our Savior Jesus Christ applies to every aspect of our lives and that He will pour out His mercy and grace upon us if we have faith in Him and a desire to be His disciple. I am grateful for my family and God's plan for our families. I know The Book of Mormon to be a source of truth and strength because I have read, prayed and received small but certain confirmations each time. I know the gospel of Jesus Christ brings perspective, strength and peace as I live its teachings in faith. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by acknowledging that God, my Father in heaven, has given me the opportunity to become the person that I want to become. I exercise my faith by choosing to be obedient and courageous, especially when it is difficult. I do this through daily prayer and scripture study, and relying on Christ's Atonement in my life as a source of peace and hope. In my church community I have been a Sunday School teacher, and a leader over a group of young women in my congregation. I am currently serving a full-time mission in Argentina. Ultimately I live my faith by trying to remember my purpose as a disciple of Christ, to serve and invite others unto Him each day by being an example of a believer.

In whom should we have faith?

We should have faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. When we have faith in Christ we can receive strength and blessings in our daily lives by coming to know Him and our Father in Heaven. Faith is a principle of action, it is not enough to just believe. When we act in faith and follow the example of Jesus Christ we show God that we trust him and have confidence in His will, and our faith increases. One of my favorite scriptures is John 14:27. Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Faith is the opposite of fear, so if we put our faith in Jesus Christ we receive peace and a desire to further follow his example. This allows us to come to understand how much He and our Heavenly Father love each of us. Show more Show less
