Why I am a Mormon

I was born to a Mormon family living in Southern Utah. I was baptized at 8 years old in Chicago, Illinois, where my father was employed at the time. Four years later we moved back to Southern Utah, where my father took over the family farm, raising cattle and sheep, growing alfalfa, grain and corn. I enlisted in the Army National Guard, and began a career serving the citizens of our amazing country. Through Army and church service my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has strengthened with every experience. I believe we, as children of a loving Heavenly Father, who loves us unconditionally were sent to earth to be tried and tested. I believe that Heavenly Father sent his son, Jesus Christ to earth to atone for our sins. Because of this Atonement, if I repent and strive to obey Heavenly Father’s commandments, I can return to His presence one day. The Church of Jesus Christ helps me make priorities in my life of God, family, employment and church/civic service. The Gospel of Jesus Christ helps me overcome challenges in life. It helps me in my role as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, teacher, coach and church leader. I love my family. I cherish my wife, who is my eternal companion through the sacred temple covenants that we have made. Our family is most precious and I want to live with them throughout the eternities, which we as Mormons believe.

How I live my faith

I love teaching, whether on Sunday or throughout the week. I strive to set an example that radiates my belief in our Savior, Jesus Christ. I look for opportunities to help my family, my neighbors and those less fortunate. I attend the temple as often as possible. As a teacher and coach, I enjoy helping young men improve their basketball skills and concept of teamwork, but more important, I love helping them become disciples of Jesus Christ, thru action and deed.
