Hi I'm Shane

My first name is really Victor, after my great-grandpa, but I go by Shane. I was born in Hawaii and I am going on a mission!

About Me

I am 18 years old and just graduated high school. I love to spend time with my family, especially my brothers. I have four brothers, but no sisters. Two of my brothers are older than me, two are younger. I am right in the middle. When I was younger, I would often disagree with my brothers, but now they are my best friends! Two of our favorite things to do are play ultimate Frisbee, and play racquetball together. We also love playing board games and just talking to each other. I can talk to my brothers about anything. I love them so much. One of my brothers is on a a full-time mission right now in Guadalajara, Mexico. I miss him very much, but I know he is doing the right thing and I couldn't be more proud of him! I can't wait for the day when my youngest brother gets home from his mission and we can see all the work that has been done for our Savior. I want to go to college. I have been accepted to Brigham Young University, and Utah State University, but I decided a mission was the most important thing for me right now. I deferred acceptance to both colleges, and will attend one of them when I return. I don't know which college I am going to attend yet though. I want to study Computer Science and Business.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I know that Jesus Christ lives, and that He is the Savior of the world. I was raised in the church, but my knowledge didn't come at birth. I have had to struggle and fight for my knowledge. There have been times when I've doubted, but always the truth over comes doubt; the light lifts away the fog. The Book of Mormon has been a major source of this light for me. It is pure truth. When I read the Book of Mormon, and then pray about it's truthfulness, I feel peace and happiness; I feel my Savior's love. He gave us that Book to guide us here on the Earth. He knew we would be lost and need guidance, so he gave us a wonderful tool to help us follow him and know the truth. I testify of this gospel. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, loves us and knows us so much, and wants us to follow him. We can come to know the Savior through the Book of Mormon, and through the guidance of our prophet today. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I am about to leave my home and travel to Argentina, where I will live among the people for two years. I will serve them; I will love them; I will give my all to show them the power of our Savior and the joy of the restored gospel. I am going to serve a mission in Salta, Argentina. I leave in 3 days and I couldn't be more excited leave. I live my faith by fulfilling my duty to serve a mission for the Savior.
