Hi I'm Sariah Kate

I'm from the Philippines. I love to create music and travel to different places. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Geologist, and I really love exploring the world and see the wonderful creations of the Lord. I also love everything about music, whether it be singing or playing musical instruments, even dancing. I'm the pianist in church, and love to sing praises unto Him. I enjoy attending my church meetings and activities for they help me know and improve myself more and be closer to my Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an LDS family. Since I was young, I attended church meeting and activities. I love everything we do in church especially when we learn the gospel through exciting activities in Seminary and Institute. The gospel of Jesus Christ helps me overcome my weaknesses and the challenges I face in my life, of course with the help of my family, my leaders, and my friends. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that the church is true and the teachings of the church help me become a better person and become closer to my Heavenly Father. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ! I love being a Latter-day Saint!

How I live my faith

I love the Young Women organization of the church where I had the opportunity to share my talents and to lead in many activities then. The organization helps teenage girls to be prepare to enter womanhood in the future. It taught me a lot in life not just in the spiritual aspect but also in the physical aspect and in discovering my hidden talents. I also got the chance to serve by playing music for church meetings. Having this calling helped me improve my talent and also to help other members to learn to play the piano.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Sariah Kate
Being self-reliant is not only important for us but for all of us. The world we live today is full of surprises and we do not know when emergencies will come. It is better for us to prepare for all possibilities. Being self-reliant will benefit us and our family and in return, we will have a chance to serve other people once we for ourselves are prepared at all times. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Sariah Kate
It is important to keep our bodies strong. Strong drinks like coffee, tea, and alcohol have certain substances that may harm our bodies. That is why the Lord gave a revelation regarding health which is called the Law of Wisdom. The Word of Wisdom also includes not using tobacco and illegal drugs. I can feel the blessing of following this commandment in my daily life. I feel stronger in doing my tasks in school and I can think well in school. The Word of Wisdom helps me practice discipline and obedience despite all the temptations around me. It helps me feel closer to Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
