Hi I'm Melissa Gillmore

I'm a nursing assistant. I am a sports fan. I am convert. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to do crafts. I live for sports. (Go Ducks! Go Seahawks! Go Pistons! Go Mariners!) I studied psychology at the University of Oregon. I grew up in a small town. I ride horses. I LOVE to read. I work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I dream of becoming an event planner.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to this wonderful Gospel. I joined the church in May of 2012. Two wonderful missionaries knocked on my apartment door while I was attending school in Oregon. At first I had many reservations about the Church. I had heard many of the misconceptions about the church, and I thought that I had made up my mind about the church. The missionaries asked if they could return and share a message, and I reluctantly accepted. When I stopped to think, I knew that if I was truly seeking the Lord's counsel, that he would never lead me astray. I had nothing to loose by meeting with the missionaries. I knew that the Lord would guide me where he wanted me, and at that moment he was guiding me to the missionaries. After just one meeting with them I could see something different in these two young men. I could see the light of Christ. It took me a long time to get past the misconceptions that the world had told me about this church, but I am so glad that I gave the missionaries and the Lord a chance to show me the truth. After many months of meeting with the missionaries and reading the Book of Mormon, I finally accepted their invitation to be baptized. I am SO very thankful for the Lord for sending me those amazing missionaries to help bring me to the true gospel of our Lord. My conversion was not necessarily easy, but it was (and still is) worth every bit of the journey. I am thankful that the Lord had patience with me at that time in my life. I would like to share that I know, with every bit of my soul, that this is the true church of Christ. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know the Lord loves each and every one of us, and if we seek his counsel, he will always guide us in the right direction. These small and simple truths that I have found through joining this church, are more precious to me than anything that i have ever known. I have seen, first hand, the blessings that come from following the Lords counsel, and they are everything to me.

How I live my faith

I like to live my faith mostly through Missionary work. I truly enjoy any opportunity the lord gives me to spread His message and His love. I am constantly trying to better my relationship w/the lord through the service of others, as well as through scripture study, prayer, and attending church.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Melissa Gillmore
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, and because of that we believe in the teachings, proprieties and records within. The bible is a wonderful resource in our Church. It serves as a historic record of past prophets and Jesus' time on earth. It also serves as a spiritual guide for problems that we face today. It helps us better understand our purpose on earth, and the love that the Lord has for us. We believe that the Bible and the Book of Mormon go hand in hand; they complement each other. Through the Book of Mormon we can better understand the Bible, AND through the Bible we can better understand the Book of Mormon. We believe BOTH are incomplete without the other. I personally know with all my heart the Bible is truly the word of God. I love reading the old testament stories, learning about the 12 tribes of Israel and analyzing the parables that Jesus taught. There is so much that we can learn from the teachings of the Bible. Show more Show less
