Hi I'm Courtney B.

I am a student, a philanthropist, and a missionary in Stockholm, Sweden . I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a happy, spontaneous girl who loves to learn of other cultures and peoples from around the world. I am a Sociology student, emphasizing in International Development and Non-Profit Organizations. The world is such a beautiful place; I love to explore and to meet new people -- everyone is so unique and has an amazing story to tell. I love to hear those stories. I also love to sing, play instruments, and listen to records. I love reading and writing and taking pictures. I love spending time with family and close friends. I enjoy working for an organization that empowers women in Uganda. Currently I am serving a mission for the beautiful people of Sweden and I am so in love with the entire missionary experience; it is the best thing I have done with my life up to this point. I love life and am happy for each day I am given.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this gospel, but I have definitely taken the time to find out for myself to know if it was true or not. I know with my whole soul that it is true. My conversion to this gospel isn't a huge, miraculous story or miracle. But piece by piece, it has come together to be something I cannot deny the presence of. Reading the Book of Mormon, watching General Conference and listening to the Prophet's voice, prayers that were answered, classes and seminars attended, time spent in the temple, hearing other's testimonies. It sounds simple, and maybe it is, but it is powerful. I know in my soul it is true. There is so much happiness and light and joy in this gospel. There is so much peace, there is so much hope. There is a God who is our Father in Heaven, and He loves us. We do have a Savior, His name is Jesus Christ and He suffered all for us, because He loves us, too. Joseph Smith was a Prophet that restored this Church to the earth, and Thomas S. Monson is the living Prophet today, who speaks on behalf of God. The Book of Mormon is the word of God, and it contains all the truths we need to know in order to return to live with Him again someday. Jesus Christ is the way, we need to follow Him and He will heal us and make us whole. I am a Mormon because I believe it and love it and it makes me happier than anything else.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others. I firmly believe that God loves everyone, and wants everyone to be happy and taken care of. I also believe that at any time if I have the means and capacity to help someone else in need, God would want me to do so. Service is my heart and soul; nothing makes me happier or feel better than helping someone in need. I have worked with the youth, with the elderly, and with the disabled. I have been able to help fund-raise money for the less fortunate, for those with cancer, and for people in other countries. I have organized food drives, clothing drives, book drives, and blood drives. I have tutored, mentored, coached, and volunteered. Any opportunity that arises, I try to take advantage of and serve with my whole heart, because not only is it what makes me happy and what I love most in this world, but I also believe that this is what God would have me do. I hope through my actions and showing love to those around me, I can help others feel of God's love for them. He cares about each of us individually, and He is mindful of our needs. He sends people to others here on this earth for that exact reason. I try my very hardest to help be the Lord's hands here on this earth, to do the things He would be doing if He, Himself, were here.
