Hi I'm Aubrey

I'm from California. I'm 19. I know that families are forever. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm no "19 kids and counting", but I sure have a big family! My momma raised 5 girls with my dad in a few different places. Back and forth to Utah, California, and back. We never lived in one place for longer than 4 years. When I was 13, my parents got a divorce. Growing up in my family, this wasn't a shock. My dad got remarried that same year, inheriting 3 kids from his new wife. And my mom got remarried not too long afterward, inheriting 4 "kids", though they're much older than I am. I now have 6 sisters and 5 brothers! I can't think of a time that we have all been in the same place but regardless.... The more the merrier I suppose. :) It wasn't always easy. It still isn't easy. I have struggled with major depression for some time now. I was able to get medication for the first time in December of my senior year in high school. Medication has helped me to get to a place where I can function and work on myself spiritually. I have to choose every day to be happy. Today it's difficult, but I know I am not alone.

Why I am a Mormon

I am not perfect. HA! Not even close. But I try. I try to give Jesus Christ everything I have.. That is the beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are not required to be perfect in what we do. We are required to be the very best we can be, and Jesus makes up for the rest. This is what it means to be perfected in Christ. The Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ is necessary and it is truth. The best part about it is that no one expects you to take their word for it! The Book of Mormon Prophet Moroni challenges those who read the Book of Mormon to pray about its truthfulness and apply the word. When we do this, God will tell you that it is true. God has done this for me. I had always expected to have a miraculous experience in the moment that I prayed about the Book of Mormon. I believe that some DO have this experience. However, this did not happen for me. I prayed and felt .... Mostly nothing. I didn't feel like it was evil and I didn't feel like it was good either. I was really frustrated by this and worried that the book was not true. But I decided to continue reading the Bible and the Book of Mormon, side by side. I began to fall in love with the Book of Mormon. The stories and the testimonies of the Savior within it began to pierce me and to affect my spirit. As I studied the Book of Mormon, I found that I was happier. Life did not get easier, and in fact, sometimes because of the fact that I followed it's teachings, it was harder. But I truly have never been happier. Heavenly Father revealed the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon to me as I applied its teachings to my life. Because of the Book of Mormon, I know that God is real, Jesus Christ is my Savior, there is a prophet on the earth today, the work that takes place in the temple is real and necessary for our salvation, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is in fact true. Knowing this, how can I not share it with those that I love?

How I live my faith

I am anticipating to serve as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I try to study the word of God every day, even if just one verse of scripture. I love to listen to music! When I can, I try to listen to the uplifting music that the church has put out. EFY (Especially For Youth) music is the greatest! Look it up, it's so inspiring and you can really feel the Spirit of God when you listen to it. I try to adhere to the words I study in the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and words of the Prophet. Obedience is huge. It's not enough to just hear the word. We must act, and apply the word. Sounds like work.. And it is. But nothing makes me happier than applying the gospel of Jesus Christ to my life.
