Hi I'm Sister Hilke

I'm serving a mission in Fukuoka Japan. I think little children are the best people to have around. I love my family. I'm a Mormon

About Me

Right now I am preparing to leave to Fukuoka Japan in the Provo MTC. I graduated high school a little over a year ago, and worked to save up some money for my mission. I taught in the Primary right after YW, and I loved it. Teaching is the best, and there is nothing like teaching little children. I am absolutely excited for this opportunity I have to serve the Lord, and through serving him to serve the people of Japan!

Why I am a Mormon

To be a Mormon. I have been asked (through expressions, opinions, and down right bluntness) many times why I choose to live as a member of the LDS church, following the standards and participating in many time consuming activities (such as early morning seminary classes, 3 hour block Sunday meetings, and weekly youth activities) and it is such a simple answer. I love my Heavenly Father, and wish to live with him again. I love my family, and wish to live with them forever and always. And I know, by choosing to walk in the footsteps of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and by listening to the promptings of the Holy Ghost, I can achieve these things. I know that this church is true. I know that through faith, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and by the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, one can return to live with their Heavenly Father. By keeping the commandments, by following the standards set by those inspired by the Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost, we can live with Heavenly Father again. I know that when sealed in the temple, families can be together forever. I know that Heavenly Father wants each of us to live with Him again, so he sent his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to live for us, to be an example of righteous actions for us, to bleed and to die for us, and to rise again, that we too may be resurrected. I know these things to be true. I know the Book of Mormon to be another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that our prophets are ordained of God, and that their teachings are true. I am a Mormon- a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints- and it is because I love my Heavenly Father, and I love my family, and I want to live with them for an eternity.

How I live my faith

Since leaving Young Women's a little over a year ago, I have been called to teach Primary classes in a large ward, and (since moving), also in a small branch. This is one of my favorite things; children are so straightforward and honest, and see things so black and white, and teaching them the gospel is simply an amazing thing. It really humbles you, and in my experience, changes how you see the world. Through teaching primary children, they have taught me how to better myself, and it has been a wonderful experience. I also decided to make the life changing decision of serving a mission! Although there are a lot of things I miss (my family, my friends, even a little tv or extra sleep here and there) there is nothing more rewarding than dedicating part of my life to my Savior who dedicated all of his life to me and all those around me. It is absolutely the best choice I could have made and I am learning and growing, and I am so excited to teach the people of Japan about their Heavenly Father and their Savior, Jesus Christ.
