Hi I'm Nelly Mendoza

I'm a daughter, a sister, an aunt & a friend. I've been called to serve in the Guatemala City East mission, & I'm a mormon.

About Me

I love to spend time with friends whether we are out eating or on the couch watching netflix. I absolutely love to bake & make a bunch of crazy desserts. I enjoy exploring new places outside of the country or the road trips we take with my family. I recently graduated highschool and I was a cheerleader most of highschool. I aspire to someday work for ESPN as a sports journalist or to be an elementary teacher teaching language arts. My plan is to attend Utah Valley university for 1-2 years and transfer to BYU provo to finish off school once i return from my mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I've been called to serve to the Guatemala city east mission I report Dec. 27th

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church all thanks to my couragous mother who joined the church at age 16. She raised me to attend church each sunday and to go to all youth activities although my dad is not a member he is a huge support to my sisters & I when it came to the church & all of the activities that followed. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know this gospel is true. I feel the love of my Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ as I strive to be like him & keep his commandments. I got baptized on my 8th birthday which is the age most kids get baptized & I remember it being such a special day entering the waters of baptism & taking upon myself that covenant. I was always the eager child who wanted to go to all church related activites & wanted to do everything "churchy". There was a point where I knew I had to find out if the church was true for myself and about ages 13-16 Is where that happened. I would go to church and just listen to what was said and truly ponder about it. At the age of 16 I recieved my drivers license & thats when I had my choice to drive myself to church activities, not because "mom said so" but because I knew thats what I should be doing and when I had the free will to go, nothing felt more right. I loved going to church and being a member, it always made me feel so good to have the gospel in my life!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example around my friends & family. I attend church every sunday whether I go and listen by myself or when im able to go with my family. Church consists of 3 hours. First hour is Sacrament meeting where we gather all together & listen to 2-3 speakers which are different each week. 2nd hour I usually attend Gospel principles to build my foundation of the church & to prepare myself to serve a mission. 3rd hour I gather with the women of the church ages 18+ & I continually find insight from these wise women. I try to live the commandments by daily scripture study & praying each morning and night. Although sometimes it may not be the easiest thing to do by doing these things it's bringing me closer to my Heavenly Father & it helps me build my foundation of this amazing gospel & I can feel my testimony grow constantly!
