Hi I'm David

I'm a convert to the church of 35 years. The gospel has made all the difference in my life.

About Me

I am blessed to be sealed to my best friend and eternal companion. Because she recognized the truth when she heard it in high school we joined the church together after marriage and are the proud parents of 5, a son and 4 daughters and 6 grand children. I make a living as a machinist but my passion is automobiles. I enjoy working on them and also going to car shows and races. But my family is the most important thing in my life. Spending time with the grand children and watching them grow up in the gospel. Seeing how it can change their lives and give them direction and purpose.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a convert to the church when I was 24 years old. Although born and raised a member of the Catholic Church it never seemed to feel right. When I got married I stopped going. My wife and I were the parents of a 10 month old son at the time and my wife wanted to raise him in a church. So she remembered what she had heard back in high school and decided to contact the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints to see if they could give her some more information. I came home from work on a Friday night to find out she had mailed a letter off. Saturday afternoon a missionary called inviting us to come to church but my wife asked if there was someone who could tell us more about the church. So the missionaries came over Sunday evening and taught us about Joseph Smith's first vision. We then set a second appointment for the following Tuesday. On Monday I started having doubts and told my wife I didn't want to be at home but she convinced me to stay anyway. When the Elders knocked on our door the first thing she asked was could she join the church if I didn't. So they came in and asked me to come and participate in the discussion. I don't remember what they said so much as how I felt around them. At the end before they left the Elders asked me to kneel down and ask Heavenly Father vocally whether or not the things they had been teaching us were true. I didn't expect to receive an answer but Heavenly Father knew I needed to know so I received my answer. It came as a burning in my bosom that the scripture's talk about. And my life has never been the same. To know that He knows who I am and loves me so much and that His Son Jesus Christ makes it possible for me to be forgiven of my sins is such a great blessing. How grateful I am for the power of the priesthood which has been restored to the earth.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed in my life to serve the members of the church in so many ways. Everything from being a nursery leader to teaching the preteens to teenagers. Serving in a small congregation which is under 100 members to serving in a large congregation of over 300 people. I currently serve as a counselor to our Bishop. What a wonderful blessing this has been.To be able to work along side Heavenly Father's children as we strive to follow the Savior and His teachings. As we worship together my testimony of the Atonement grows stronger and I see the Lord working in my life and other member's lives.
