Hi I'm Carolyn K. Affleck

I was born in Washington D.C. I lived many places as my father was in the FBI. I am the mother of 5 children.

About Me

I just celebrated my fiftieth wedding anniversary. All of our five children and their companions and our eighteen grandchildren went with us on a five day trip. I have spent most of my life with our children and my husband. We have been very active in the community and in our church. As I look back to my teaching school for four years and then raising four boys and one girl I feel it was a busy road, but we all learned a great deal that has helped us. I liked the hard work with pleasures of knowing that we are always going to be knitted together as a family. We are leaving on a mission for our church in November and I personally have waited my whole life to serve full time. After our four boys served their missions I felt it was our time, but our two mothers had difficult times with health and we needed to care for one and two months after one passed away at 95 years of age our other mother needed to come and live with us. She has passed away at 93 and we are still very sincere about serving. Lord willing we will be in the mission field in November 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

In my very young years I knew who I was. I was so greatful for my membership in the church. I felt the spirit whisper to me many times during my younger years. The church has more answers for me than any other philosophy or religion that I have studied. I have a clear concept of the nature of Our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. They are real to me which makes it easy to have a personal relationship with them.

How I live my faith

I have volunteered in the medical womens auxillary in teaching sex respect to the junior high and high school health classes. In my neighborhood I teach young girls ages eight to twelve to prepare themselves for womenhood and life. I love to see them grow and develop into talented young women. I have taught adults, young women and children in my church for years. I have held leadership positions in various organizations in the church. Our church is run by the people. There is no paid ministry. I taught school for years and now with eighteen grandchildren I have taught a good number of them to read and enjoy books for a lifetime, I received as much as they did. I have spent thousands of hours at the schools in our area doing puppetry, art work and whatever the teacher needed me to assist with in the classrooms. I always feel comfortable in the schools. I have been very active in the P.T.A. I have been President of the Medical Auxillary and have many positions on the various boards.
