Hi I'm Weston McCloy

I'm 19 years old, born and raised in Utah. Called to serve in the Great California San Diego Mission and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a want-to-be avid fisherman, but I do love the outdoors. I love music of all kinds and think it is a pathway to reach everyone. I love all sports; however, I have wrestled, competed in track and field, and football. You could say I'm a Jack-Of-All-Trades, I'm good at quite a few things, but I don't really excell at any! Haha. I like to pass the time by spending time with family, being with friends, and every once in a while playing video games. I am the youngest of 5 Children and I love my family more than anything in the world!!

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and this church teaches it in its fullness. The Book of Mormon truly is the word of God and teaches and testifies about Jesus Christ. I am thankful for the knowledge that every single person on this earth is a Child of God. I know that through Jesus Christ, and His atonement, we can all be relieved from sin and sorrow. The knowledge of these simple truths has helped me in my darkest hours and lifted me up to my brightest moments.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve as a missionary for the Mormon church, formally known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I will spend the next two years of my life teaching the words of Christ to the people of San Diego, California. As I near the end of that service I have really learned that there are two types of people, believers and followers. Many people believe in Jesus Christ, but it is a whole other step to actually follow him. Living my faith is more than just saying I'm a believer in Jesus Christ it means that I need to follow Him with my whole heart. I have done my best and I have felt the approval of God as I have loved and served others the way that Christ would. Life isn't easy for me or for anyone. With my belief in the Sacrafice, or Power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ I have been able to overcome the seemingly unsermountable challenges that life has flung my way.

What is being a Mormon like?

Weston McCloy
Being a Mormon is AWESOME! The more I become involved in my faith the more satisfaction I feel from myself and God. I've never been more happy than when I have served full time 24/7 for 2 years being a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or the Mormon Church. A lot of people say that there are too high expectations or too many restrictions. I know that is what it may seem like, but really it is God wanting us to be safe and happy. He is keeping us in the safe harbor, but people still want to venture out into the stormy seas of life. I've also heard that people discredit the Church because it doesn't believe in Jesus Christ...Well, that is the name of the Church, it is in His name, and we live a life following Him! That being said there are members of the Church who aren't perfect, and even some who are pretty abrasive. The great thing is that the church isn't a car show room, displaying to the world all the marvelous things Mormons are and can be, but really it is just a Hospital making those we are sick whole again. Jesus said "They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick" (Luke 5:31). I know that is true, that being a Mormon is great because God is at the Helm and Jesus Christ is the Master Physician and there is nothing to fear, no matter how crazy the world gets around us, our faith is Centered on the Rock of our Salvation, Jesus Christ.
