Hi I'm Amber Shelton

I was born and raised in south Texas. I am a homemaker and piano teacher. I am raising 4 awesome boys. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from BYU in 1999. While I was there I met my husband Barry. After graduation we moved to Dallas where we have lived for 15 years. We are raising four boys and spend lots of our time at different sporting events. I teach piano lessons, serve in the young women program, run, read, family history, hospice volunteer, and help out at the schools. I love being a mom and wife!

Why I am a Mormon

My mother joined The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints when I was 4. She was drawn to the teaching that we have a living prophet. I have thought about that many times through my life. I have prayed to know if Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. The truth of the first vision has been confirmed to me on more than one occasion through peaceful and joyous feeling that comes when I pray to know of its truth. I have spent my life following the living prophets and find so much happiness in living their counsel. Because I know they talk with God as ancient prophets did I chose to heed their counsel and that of the scriptures. Through their words I have come to know my Savior Jesus Christ and have felt of His love for me. Anytime I feel alone I turn to Him! My relationship with Christ grows each time I trust in Him and the counsel he gives me through living prophets and the scriptures. I have no doubt that Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and restored the gospel in the same pattern that existed when He was on the earth. The power of the priesthood has been restored to bind whatever is on earth in heaven. I know that I can be with my family eternally through this power that comes from God. For this I am eternally grateful!!

How I live my faith

I am currently the young women's president in my ward. I spend time with the youth every week studying the gospel and participating in fun activities they have planned. We work together to strengthen one anothe'rs testimonies of Jesus Christ and learn important skills that will help us be an asset to our community. I love to work on family history and learn more about my ancestors. Ancestry.com and familysearch.org are some of my favorite sites to visit. I also am a hospice volunteer and visit with those who are on hospice care. I love to see them smile!
