Hi I'm Gordon W. Affleck

I grew up in Ogden, Utah, and am a lifelong member of the church. I am a retired Orthopedic surgeon.

About Me

My wife and I raised five children, have 18 grandchildren. We love outdoor activities such as hiking. golf, fishing and traveling. We have spent our lives heavily involved in community service, volunteerism, and LDS church activities. I spent two years in the Air Force during the Viet Nam era. My occupation was as an Orthopedic surgeon, and I recently have been volunteering at a homeless clinic and running a medical clinic for senior missionaries in Salt Lake City. I also spent 20 years in scouting and youth leadership training. For many years I was a team physician for the Utah Jazz.

Why I am a Mormon

I have studied all my adult life about this church. Although we don't know everything yet, I have found the doctrines to be pure and in line with the Lord's church as established when He was on the earth. The most important thing I have received as a member of this church is the abiding witness of the spirit. Personal revelation is real and it is the way each person may find out if the church is true. Intellectual exercise alone, though important, will never bring a person to the truth. One must continue a righteous life to be able to hear the voice of the Spirit.

How I live my faith

I have served many years in church leadership and working with young people. I currently teach Old testament topics in Sunday School.
