Hi I'm Dan

I was born into a faithful active Mormon family. I try my best to love God and all mankind. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to stay healthy by feeding mind, body, spirit and emotions. Currently I'm learning to play the piano, I study Chinese, I study spiritual things, and I jog. I also like to enjoy nature by hiking and keeping my home and neighborhood clean, orderly, maintained, and beautified. I'm always interested in ways to share the blessings and joys of life with everyone I can including family, neighbors, associates, and people worldwide.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to faithful members of the Mormon faith and I do not remember a time when I did not know and feel the love and presence of God in my life. I chose to remain true to my faith as a result of hundreds of experiences with the Spirit of God that if I were to deny them I would be a hypocrite untrue to myself and to my creator. I would be such a disappointment to the God who clearly loves me. I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and that Christ will some day return and reign personally upon the earth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is engaged in preparing the earth for Christ's second coming. I consider it an honor to be allowed to participate as a member of this church.

How I live my faith

I love to attend and participate with the members of the church in helping each other through the difficulties of life. Sometimes it just takes a visit in person or on the phone. Prayer and giving priesthood blessings for health and well being are important activities also. Sabbath day worship is important and I have been in the local church choir since I was a teenager. I attend our church temples as often as I can to provide saving ordinances for those who came to earth and departed but did not have the chance to learn of Jesus. I serve the community when I can through service projects and organizations helping homeless, unemployed, abused or neglected people.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Dressing in Sunday best to me is important when attending Sunday services for two reasons. One is by dressing modestly, both in fashion and in expense, we show respect for others. We do not want to be flashy and make others feel they are not as good as we are because we can afford what they can or that we have better taste than they do. It is also respectful to others to be modest so we do not call attention to ourselves or to our sexuality which would distract from the purpose of attending, which is to worship God and to learn to be a better person. The second reason to dress nicely is to show respect to God. If you were going to worship, doesn't it make sense to look your best? Show more Show less
