Hi I'm Katelyn Jones

I grew up for most of my life in Las Vegas, Nevada but now live in Idaho. I am going on a mission to Kentucky. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up for most of my life in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have a family of five and I would never trade them for the world. In 2008 my parents worked very well appointed jobs in Las Vegas and we had more things and stuff than we needed. I remember one week we got picked up by both of our parents from school when we normally would walk home. THey told us our dad had been laid off from his job. A week later the same happened to my mom. We ended up lasting about six months before our home was no longer ours. The bank forclosed our home and we moved to Idaho to live with my grandparents. We endured many familial trials and about five years later we have never been stronger and we love the way our life turned our. Currently, I work as a lifeguard and just graduated high school. Soon I am to leave to serve an LDS mission and be away from my family for eighteen months. I love to sing and draw and read. I have everything that I have ever needed and owe a lot of it to the trials we all went thorugh both individually and together as a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon I guess first of all because of my family. I was born into it and because of what has been given and taken from my family, Heavenly Father has kept us together. To that I know that families will be together forever because of the great plan He has created for us. Second, the Atonement of Jesus Christ is so precious to me and I know it is meant for those around me and even though I am still going through my own life and adversities, that I must help others and be their friend and advisor just like the Savior intends us to be. Those around me need the Atonement just like I do. Some even more or less than me. But it was meant for everyone and I am a Mormon because I want to help others and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints allows me to help others with truth and knowledge.

How I live my faith

Faith is an interesting word. Some people either take it literally like faith equalling religion or they take it not literally and having faith in a figurative way for a belief in something or something but not truly believing in the power of faith. The word faith has been with me all my life. Through all of the trials I have been through I had faith even at the brink of losing everything. I live my faith by always doing what is right and standing up for what integrity is in me. I know that by living the commandments of the Gospel I can stay happy, healthy and safe. I believe that Heavenly Father wanted us to live that way so that we could enjoy the blessings of the Atonement of His son Jesus Christ and thereby have faith in Him. Faith is trust. It is trust in Heavenly Father and knowing that if you are always doing the right thing you can be rewarded ten-fold later on. I have faith both in others and in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith has helped me to move mountains; even if it was a rock at a time.
