Hi I'm Austin

Soccer is my life. I love to create music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family. I live with my Mom and Dad, and I'm the oldest out of 3 siblings; 2 brother and 2 sisters. We're all really close. I live for soccer. I've been playing for sixteen years which means that my soccer career has out lived my school career. I've done the Olympic Development Program for the Utah '95 boys team for three years, and I attended Regional Camp in 2011. My club team went to Regionals in Hawaii in 2012 when I scored 11 goals in 6 games. My favorite professional teams are Real Salt Lake, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich while my favorite international teams are USA, Netherlands, and Germany. I've been playing guitar now for 6 years, mandolin for 2, and banjo for 1. I also make marimba's in a guys house out of wood and aluminum. My favorite bands and musical artists are: Eric Clapton, The Eagles, Styx, Steve Miller Band, The Police, Pearl Jam, Heart, and more. I've been doing that for about a year and a half. I've had 6 jobs in the past 3 years which include: 2 soccer coaching jobs, ice cream scooper at an ice cream parlor, marimba maker, Real Salt Lake concessions worker, and the local sewer district as a flagger driver.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has always been Mormon, so I've grown up with the religion. I've always believed in Christ and his atonement and resurrection, but for a time I just ignored it. My family stopped attending church from the time I was 10 till I was almost 12, so I lost my way a little bit when I was in high school. This brought about a time when I really questioned the church, and I'm glad it did. It prompted me to study more and to ask questions of myself that I hadn't before. I've always wanted to serve a mission, but I wasn't doing anything about it until I read 2nd Nephi 2: 7-8 in my seminary class my senior year. This scripture hit me in such a way that I knew this gospel was true and that I needed to do something about me and a mission. Shortly after, I turned my papers in and was called to serve. I know this church to be true, because it has answered questions for me that other religions either couldn't or that didn't satisfy me. I've prayed about it, and I've always gotten the answer that it is true. I've seen it bless my life, and I can't wait to share this with others in India who need it. I'm very grateful and blessed to have this religion in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example to others on a daily basis. When I was 12 I went to mutual every tuesday night which is when my ward decided to get together do participate in the Boy Scouts of America program. Once a month, we'd do community service. We'd do things like; clean a neighbors yard, shovel walk ways of snow, volunteer at the food bank, lay sod, and many other things. I've held callings in my ward where I was incharge of a group of boys who were the same age as me. Some of the duties I was in charge of were to assign a young man to bring bread for the sacrament, assign fast offerings routes, teach my group lessons once in awhile, and prepare the sacrament. I've also had hometeaching assignments to go teach certain families in my neighborhood, and I've had great experiences with that. Now I've been called to serve the Lord in Bangalore India for 2 years as a missionary. I leave September 10th, 2014 to report to the Provo Missionary Training Center for 2 weeks, then I'll be off to India. I feel very blessed to serve the the people of India in any way I can, and I feel that the callings I've had in the church has not only blessed me, but prepared me for this.
