Hi I'm Trevor

I'm a Mormon in Utah. There are lots of us here but I gained a testimony through studying the Book of Mormon and praying about it.

About Me

I am a new dad. I am nervous about it because my dad passed away when I was young. My son brings joy to my life. My wife is amazing. I study Geology. I love it. I believe in evolution and have found that the study of earth's history has increased my testimony. I love how well the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints mesh so well with scientific understanding. I love to be outdoors in the mountains, biking, hiking, and camping. I love reading. I am applying to graduate schools soon and that is scary!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the church. The church encourages everyone to gain their own testimony. I have always known that God lives and that life continues after death. I did not, however, believe in Joseph Smith as a prophet of God. In high school, while reading the Book of Mormon, I came across 2 Nephi 33:10 "And now, my beloved brethren... hearken unto these words and believe in grist; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good." I believed in Christ and I realized at that moment that the Book of Mormon truly contained the words of Christ. Because the Book of Mormon was true it meant that Joseph Smith, who translated it, must also be a true prophet. I know that God lives and loves us. I know that Jesus is the Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was called of God to restore truth on the earth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's true restored church. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. Today we have a living prophet, Thomas S Monson.

How I live my faith

I am a home teacher. My friend and I visit 3 families each month. We share a message and make sure that all their temporal and spiritual needs are being met. I try to read and study my scriptures daily. I pray daily to my Father in Heaven. My wife and I try to have uplifting communication in the home and make it a place of peace.
