Hi I'm Mary

I come from a family with 10 kids. I'm a wife and a mother. I love the beach, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Oregon, the 2nd of 10 children. I played basketball and tennis in high school and love sports. I also love music and I play the piano and guitar. In 2010, I graduated and moved to Hawaii to attend school at BYUH. There I met my husband and we were married in the Laie, HI Temple in December, 2012. One year later we had our daughter. I love being a mother and have always adored being around children. I'm studying Elementary Education. I used to speak Spanish (in high school), but since I moved to Hawaii I have lost much of it. I love playing at the beach, dancing, playing games with my family, and watching movies. Most of all, I LOVE the gospel and the happiness it's brought me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, and was raised by parents who worked very hard to teach us the principles of the gospel. I had a great knowledge of the doctrine but had not quite developed a knowledge of its truthfulness. The older I've become the more I've realized how many blessings it has brought me. When I follow the commandments, I am so happy! When I don't, my life feels empty. I've learned this by making mistakes, and overcoming trials. I have seen the happiness the gospel has brought others as well as myself, and I know for myself that it is true! I know that God's love is infinite. He loves me and He loves YOU! I love that our church has a prophet today who speaks with God and leads us. I know that along with the bible, the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I learn so much by studying it daily, and it nourishes my spirit just as food nourishes my body. I know that God has a plan for all of us. That one day we can return to his presence. I am Mormon because of the light it is in my life. Without the gospel, I would be in darkness.

How I live my faith

I have served in my church in numerous positions over the last few years. Mostly, I have worked withed the children in Primary, or have been a church pianist. Most recently I became a "Ward Missionary." I am so excited about this calling because I did have the opportunity to serve a mission, and had wanted to for a long time. Instead, I got married, which I realized was all part of God's plan for me. But now, in a way, I'm able to do it all. I love working with the "full-time" sister missionaries in our ward, and I love sharing the gospel and my knowledge of God's love with others.
