Hi I'm Hilorie

I am a nurse, a wife and a mother. I love camping and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I recently finished my bachelors degree in Nursing after a long hiatus from school while raising my 4 beautiful children. I now work in a large hospital in Labor and Delivery. I love to cook and sew and decorate my house. I enjoy reading and spending time outdoors. I have been married for 18 yrs.

Why I am a Mormon

I have found true happiness exists only when we are following God's plan for us. As I have turned to my Savior and asked for his forgiveness and committed my life into his hands, I have felt more joy than I ever knew possible. The gospel of Jesus Christ provides me with opportunities to grow as I serve others of God's children. It also makes me a better wife, mother and woman. I find that scripture study and prayer bring me closer to my Heavenly Father and my Savior and through his infinite grace I am able to not only be forgiven for my mistakes, but also to be MORE than I am without him. When I ask for his atoning grace I am kinder, more loving, smarter etc all because of him. His sacrifice allows me to ask for help in all things and to expect my requests to be granted. I choose to be a disciple of Christ and follow his example by being a member of his Church; The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I teach Sunday School each week to 14-15 yr old kids as well as plan a summer camp for girls in our congregation ages 12-18. I volunteer in my children's school and have served as a PTA president for a couple of years. I love spending time with children both young and old.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

We believe that the family is central to God's plan. The relationships that exist while we are here on the earth are designed to last far beyond the grave. God has established a pattern through his son Jesus Christ and through keys that have been restored in recent times from the ancient church while Christ was alive to bind families together. See Matthew 16:19. Using this authority, God has made it possible for families to be sealed together in this life and the one to come. I know that Heaven would truly cease to be Heaven if I did not have my family with me. Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

There seems to be a lot of talk of modesty lately and how a woman shouldn't be ashamed to wear what she wants and express herself however she sees fit. I feel that teaching young people both boys and girls that they are more than just what you see on the outside is important. My beautiful daughter is more than a pretty face and long legs. Choosing to wear longer shorts and tops or shirts that cover the chest and back help reiterate this point. Wearing modest clothing for me and my family shows respect for our bodies and respect for God. It also ensures that we are comfortable and confident in any activity that we are participating.
