Hi I'm Steve

I grew up in California. I am a father of five and grandpa to six. I am retired, an artist, a backpacker and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in beautiful Northern California my entire life. I married my high school sweetheart over 40 years ago and now we have five children and six grandchildren. We all love the outdoors including hiking, backpacking, fishing, camping, kayaking, mountain biking and white water rafting. I have a love for reading, writing and especially art - for relaxation I enjoying painting in acrylics and water colors. I have a strong love for and testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ. My wife and I will soon leave California for 23 months to serve a full-time mission serving the Young Single Adults in the England Birmingham Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I am a Mormon. I gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel as an adult. As I read the Book of Mormon, which I have done many times, I felt, and continue to feel, an overwhelming sense of peace, happiness and, most importantly, hope as it puts life and its many challenges into perspective for me. I have experienced the powerful prompting of the Holy Ghost which bears witness to me that the Book of Mormon, which is a companion scripture to the Bible, is true. The doctrines of the Gospel are beautiful in their simplicity and they bring me comfort especially knowing that families are forever and, that the saving ordinances of the Gospel can be performed in the temple, for my kindred dead who never heard the Gospel. It provides us an opportunity to do for them what they can no longer do for themselves. Being a Mormon makes me happy. It gives me peace. It helps me find hope even in the most difficult of circumstances. It strengthens my love for my family. Being a Mormon can do all of this for you, too.

How I live my faith

I have an unwavering love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and, of course, for Him. I show that love by the way I live my life as a husband, father, grandfather and priesthood holder. I kneel in prayer every day side by side with my wife and I pray silently throughout the day for my family and others. My wife and I serve in the House of the Lord (temple) weekly, we attend church together every Sunday, we teach young men and women together and we will soon be serving a full time mission in the England Birmingham Mission where we will serve the Young Single Adults for 23 months. I have served in many leadership callings in the Church including Bishop, Counselor in a Mission Presidency, High Councilman, Scoutmaster, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader and Young Men's President. The best part of each of these callings has been the opportunity it provided me to serve others and the loving relationships that were established as I served.
