Hi I'm Abby Sommer

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Utah. I got called to the West Indies Mission, and I am so excited to serve the Lord!

About Me

I just graduated from high school. I have received my mission call to the Trinidad, West Indies Mission! I love to do service. I love doing anything outdoors, such as camping, hiking, tubing, boating, and all that fun stuff! I also love anything to do with the country life, I love horse back riding and going to rodeos. I am currently just working and earning money for my mission, and spending time with my family before I leave, I can't wait!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. As long as I can remember I have always loved this amazing gospel. I grew up with a lot of friends and family friends that didn't have the gospel in their life, and saw all of the hard-ships that they went through, and seeing them suffer without the knowledge of a better life, or any hope. It was always so hard for me to understand why they wouldn't want to be happy, and know that their is a better way, and that there is a loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ there to help us through everything and anything we need. The first time that I can remember that I gained my own strong testimony, and felt Christ love for me personally was when I was about 13, when one of my really close friends passed away. When it first happened I was angry and upset, because I didn't understand why Heavenly Father would let a young boy that hadn't lived his life yet, die. That when my dad told me that everything happens for a reason, and that God has a plan for each and every one of us. That night a prayed and asked for comfort and conformation that that was true. My prayers were answered, and I knew that my friend was in a much better place, without pain sorrow. I also knew that his time on earth was done, and that he had done everything that Heavenly Father needed him to do here. Ever since then I have had a very strong testimony in this wonderful gospel. As I have prepared for my mission these last couple of months, I have gain a strong testimony in Christ, his atonement, his love, for all of us, missionary work, and that we are all here for a reason. I know this to be true.

How I live my faith

Currently I am living my faith by preparing to serve my mission to the West Indies. Each day I prepare by reading my scriptures, praying, studying, going to the temple, and serving others. Often at my work I am able to share about my mission and beliefs at my work, patients often ask what I am currently doing, or if I'm going to school. This gives me a chance to tell them that I am going to be serving a mission, and this gives me a chance to answer their questions like, "why are you going on a mission"
