Hi I'm Mary Sue

I have climbed the pyramids in Egypt, walked the great wall of China, & zip lined in the rainforest of Costa Rica. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sew, embroider, read, work in the garden, and play the piano. I love to travel! I have seen much of the world. I enjoy meeting new people and experiencing their cultures. I am always looking forward to my next adventure. But as much as I love to see the world, there is no place I would rather be than with my family. I am a mother of eight children and grandma to 30 with more on the way. My marriage and children bring me the greatest joy. I love family dinners with lots of talking, laughing, teasing, and loving. For now, my current adventure is serving as a missionary with my husband in London, England for the next three years. I love sharing the gospel with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon faith. It has always been a part of my life, but still I have had to gain my own testimony. One way I have gained that testimony is by learning from my family that has come before me. I have great great grandparents who were disowned by their families in England for joining the Mormon church, found each other and married, and crossed the sea by traveling steerage on a ship holding onto their baby Elizabeth so she would not be swept overboard. Upon arriving in the United States, the Civil War was in full swing, but still they made their way across the plains to Utah. Part way through their journey, the husband was asked to stay behind and help those who were still coming. My great great grandmother continued on with their baby. When they reached Salt Lake City, she had no where to go and did not know anyone. As she sat there in the main square with her baby, a missionary that had served in England came by and invited her to stay with his family until her husband arrived. He arrived many months later and they lived a wonderful life and raised many children. I have been blessed with wonderful examples in my life of living the gospel of Jesus Christ and it has made me want to serve Him and be more like Him. I love to read the scriptures and hear the voice of the Lord through his living prophets today! I feel very blessed to know that I am a daughter of Heavenly Father and that he loves me. I am a Mormon because my faith and the gospel way of living makes me happy!

How I live my faith

One way I am living my faith right now is to leave the family I love so much and serve the Lord full time as a missionary with my husband. We have the opportunity of serving with over 200 young and older missionaries here in the England London South Mission. Full time service for the Lord is a privilege and we are loving serving here and getting to know the English people. It is especially sweet for me because many of my ancestors joined the church in England. While it is hard to be away from my family, I have great trust in the Lord and know that he will watch over the family I love while I am away. It takes great faith, but I know he is there for me.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Mary Sue
The way that I increase my faith every day is by reading and pondering the Book of Mormon. I love reading this book - it gives me answers and comfort for the challenges I am facing in my life. It's words are current for this day and time. Every day I "choose to believe" and "choose Christ" in my daily decisions, which always increases my faith. Show more Show less
