Hi I'm Talisha

I grew up in the Southwest, but love to travel. I go to BYUI. I'm super sassy. I love neon and orange juice, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am from the Southwest part of the US, but I am now a college student at BYUI. I love anything neon and I almost always have orange juice in my hands :) I love to play the piano, play volleyball, read, and write! I love to travel and meet new people and experience new cultures. I am the happiest when I'm around the people that I love and when I meet new people to love. I'm a little spontaneous, a little crazy, and a lot sassy. I'd rather stand on chairs than sit on them, especially when I need a new perspective on life. I'm a firm believer that there is always something good to find, even in the worst and hardest experiences. My name is Talisha, I'm from the Southwest Desert, I have a rare but serious travel bug, I'm an avid lover of neon and orange juice, and I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

This gospel promises blessings. It helps its members become closer to their Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ every single day. It helps them to understand the purpose of life and the Plan of Salvation that our Father in Heaven has for each and every person. I am a Mormon because this church helps me to feel the love that my Heavenly Father has for me. I know that this church is organized in the exact same way that the church was organized when Christ was on the earth. I know that because of that organization, it is possible that Heavenly Father has provided us with living prophets to lead and guide the members back to Him. I know that we are God's children and that He loves us. He wants us to return to live with Him, and I know that it is only through earthly experiences where our faith and testimonies have been tried and tested that we will be able to do that. I know that God has given us the agency to choose, and that we have the opportunity to make our own decisions during our mortal lives. I also know, though, that being given the agency to choose means that every decision we make comes accompanied with a consequence that we do not get to choose. I believe that Heavenly Father leads His church through His prophet and apostles, but that individual members also have the opportunity to receive personal revelation when they are spiritually prepared. I have seen God's hand in my life and I have seen how His plan for me has proven to be what is best for me, time and time again. My Father in Heaven knows what I need better than I do, and having that knowledge has helped me to put my trust in Him and be willing to follow His commandments and do whatever He asks me to do. I know that I have a Father in Heaven. I know that He wants me to return to Him someday. I know that it is through the sacrifice and the atonement of Christ that all of this would be made possible. I know the Lord provides a way for me, and because of that I want to follow Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying as hard as I can to participate in activities that help me get to know and come closer to the other members of the church. One of my favorite ways to participate is by playing the piano and inviting the spirit to a meeting through music. I love to be a part of helping the ward become a family and building and strengthening relationships between members. I have discovered a new love for family history work and indexing so that other people may have the means and capabilities of finding their ancestors. I love to teach and to use the experiences that I have to make the principles of the gospel more applicable to my life and to the lives of others. I like to make activities and lessons fun and educational about gospel doctrines and principles. I believe that each person's experiences are unique and if we are willing to share those experiences with each other, that they will not only bring us closer together, but will also bring us closer to our Father in Heaven. I know that teaching children and helping them build a firm foundation while they are young is crucial in helping them to become faithful and strong members of this church and of a community. For that reason, I absolutely LOVE when I get the opportunity to work with the young children or youth in the church. This world is bombarded with temptation, and the best way to fight it is through faithful members of the church. Because of that, I have come to recognize throughout my life, exactly how important it is to have charity, to serve, and to love people so that we can successfully build up the kingdom of God on the earth.
