Hi I'm Stephan

I am a student at BYU, I am a Returned Full-time missionary, I am a Black Belt, I am a Gymnast And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love sports. I earned my black belt at age 13 in Tae Kwon Do. I love Gymnastics. I competed at the National Level (placing in the top 10 at Jr. Olympics and making the Regional All Star Team). I am passionate about sports but there is nothing I love more than my family. I have 4 sisters and It's been a lot of fun being the only boy. Spending time with my family is my absolute favorite thing to do whether it be at the lake, vacation or at home. I recently completed my 2 year mission in the West Virginia Charleston Mission as a full time Missionary. I always wanted to serve a mission and It has brought so much joy to my life. I'm eternally grateful for the opportunity I have had to come to know My Savior more fully.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in the church and it has provided me with the best foundation I could ever hope in a world of decreasing moral standards. At the age of 14 I knew the Church of Jesus Christ was the true church. I came home from school one day and my father asked me to come into the living room and there he set my family down to let us know that he had been diagnosed with cancer. The doctors at the University of Washington Cancer Care Alliance only diagnosed him with only a few months left to live and for a young boy who idolizes his father, the news was devastating. I remember one night I had a feeling of complete hopelessness and I remembered to a blessing that my father had been given. At that moment I was comforted, felt an overwhelming love from My Father in Heaven and had a surety that he would live. It has been many years since then and after many surgeries and a difficult recovery, he is alive and healthy. I know that it was only by the power of an almighty God that he is still here. I know that Heavenly Father listens to and answers prayers. He has answered my prayers. I know without a doubt that the Book of Mormon is true because I asked in prayer and he confirmed that to me. This is not an experience that is only specific to me, anyone can read and ask in prayer to receive a witness that it is true.

How I live my faith

I believe to truly live a faith, one must live the standards everyday. I have tried the best I can to live my faith everyday. I am not anything close to perfect, and of course I fail, but with the Savior's example I am motivated to be better each day and to think of others instead of myself. I am thankful for the Savior's sacrifice that allows me the opportunity to be clean from my faults and selfish ways. With His example I am reminded what is truly important in this life, and as I said earlier, I love sports, but I realize there are much more important things than sports. I have had opportunity on multiple occasions to choose my Savior instead of sports and looking back I do not have a single regret. Having been on a mission, I have had the opportunity To not only live my faith but invite others to come unto Christ and through that I have seen their lives change in miraculous ways. My hope is to continue to do that today even without being a full time representative
