Hi I'm Max

I grew up in Utah. I am serving a mission in Uruguay. I love to listen to and play music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always loved learning and school. After graduating high school, I went to a year of university. Now, I am about to take off on a mission to Uruguay -- I am excited to learn lots more out there, especially the Spanish language! When I get back, after devoting all my time to the Lord, I will devote my university studies to the cello. Classical music is my passion, and it sustains me in the world. Whenever possible, I love to get outside and bike or walk, take photos, and read. Teaching math and music has supported me financially and in many other ways. I love my family very much! Spending time with my cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and certainly with my parents and brother and sister is pretty much my favorite thing to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful that I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, because I have been taught truths from an early age. However, this does not mean that I automatically have a testimony. I am still a member of the church because I have learned for myself that it is true. So many times, I have felt the powerful, calming influence of the Holy Ghost, testifying to me of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for prayer, and that we have a loving Heavenly Father who will always listen to us, because we are His children. I know that the Book of Mormon is truly another testament of Jesus Christ, and that Joseph Smith translated that book by the power of God. I know that we are blessed with prophets on the earth today, because I have heard and felt the true counsel given to us by our current President Monson and the other authorities of the church. I strive to follow the gospel because I know it is the one way to true joy, to eternal life with our families with our Father in Heaven. I exhort you to learn about the gospel as well, and to point yourself towards eternal life.

How I live my faith

I strive to be as active as possible in church and in the community. As a youth, I served in some leadership callings throughout the years. The highlight for me so far was working with a special needs youth group every week for a school year. I learned a lot from those amazing people, especially about unconditionally loving everyone. I have loved doing home teaching with my father, and while at university, with my peers. It is such a blessing to get to know nearby families better and to be able to teach them about the gospel, and to in turn learn about the gospel from them. I also love it when my home teachers visit me! In my university student ward, I had a great time serving as the ward choir pianist. Bringing music into our church meetings is such a privilege, because it helps myself and others to feel love and peace through the Holy Ghost. When I no longer played for the choir, I decided to sing with them, which was new for me and quite fun. The atmosphere among fellow members of the church when serving together is truly wonderful -- I made new friends quickly because of it.
