Hi I'm Jake Vellinga

I was born in Vegas. I grew up in Chicago. I play soccer. I love the outdoors. I listen to Indie Rock. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old and currently living in Utah. I am graduated from high school and leaving soon to go on a mission to Berlin, Germany. I play soccer and love watching hockey. After I return, I am attending BYU: Idaho. I love music and play piano, drums, and ukulele. I speak some German. I am an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.

Why I am a Mormon

There are two reasons why I am a Mormon. One, my parents are Mormon, so I was raised in the faith. Two, I am a Mormon because I know the truth of this church. My parents are both members of this church, so its what I know. I am so glad I was able to be raised in this church because of the happiness it has brought into my life. I see my peers and friends at school struggle with addictions and harmful choices, and I am glad that because of the standards of this church, I very well know the consequences of those choices. I know this church is the true church of God on this Earth today. I know that we have a living prophet on this Earth and that he leads and guides us by Gods word.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week on Sundays. I also attend youth activities that take place once a week. I have held several callings in church and have loved them all. I was once in charge of organizing a youth trip to Nauvoo, Illinois. I try to be an example to others by following the standards I have set for myself.
