Hi I'm Jordan Homer

I'm a nerd, a scout, a drummer, a son, brother. I'm a returned Missionary from the Iowa Des Moines Mission. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am a born and raised Latter Day Saint. I have a wonderful family who I love and care about so much. I enjoy spending time with my family and my close group of friends. I enjoy watching movies and playing video games. I'm the nerd of my family. I absolutely LOVE the outdoors. I am currently a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this church. But there comes a time where we all must decide for ourselves what we believe to be true. I have given time to study and prayer to my Father in Heaven regarding what is truth and what is not. As I went on with my study and prayer I started to see all the good that has come into my life due to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the simple truths that it contains. I have gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I knew then that all things that are taught in the Church are truths from Heavenly Father. So I stuck with it my whole life and am now helping others to come to that knowledge by serving in the Iowa Des Moines Mission. Which has only helped solidify my beliefs even more.

How I live my faith

Everyone needs to find out what they believe and model their lives after that belief. I believe that God is a loving Father. That he wants us all to live a life of light and peace and hope. Of course life isn't always a walk in the park. But God makes it worthwhile. So I live my faith by sharing what I know to be true. I have the opportunity right now to be serving a full time LDS mission in the Iowa Des Moines mission. I live my life in accordance with the commandments of God. I do all I can to understand what he wants for me and live so that I can receive those promised blessings. I pay tithes, I keep myself virtuous and abstain from abusive substances like alcohol and tobacco. This lifestyle has blessed me with a peace in my heart and a love of God that I can feel every moment of everyday. I still mess up. But I know that it is through Christ that I can make it right. I live my faith my serving those who do not have this knowledge.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Jordan Homer
Nope! We worship God the Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The one who preformed the Atonement which allows all of us to be forgiven of our sins and to return to heaven. We believe that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. Like Adam, Abraham and Moses. He was the one who brought the church back to the earth. He did not just form the church. Jesus Christ told him to restore it. Christ instructed Joseph on what to teach and how to form the Church. We view Joseph as a wonderful man and a prophet of God, nothing more. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Jordan Homer
When Jesus Christ was on earth, He established His church on the foundation of Apostles. He gave His Apostles (Peter, James, John, etc) the Priesthood authority which allows man to preform the works of the Lord on earth. Over time after Jesus ascended into heaven, His Apostles carried out His church and the work He was preforming. But many people still rejected the teachings of Christ and killed many church members and leaders. When this happened the priesthood was taken from the earth due to the wickedness of the people. The church needed to be restored in it's fullness. There were many people who did the best they could with what they had to follow Christ and His teachings. But they didn't have the Priesthood. So they weren't able to do things like baptism. But the Lord restored His church again through a modern day prophet. The Prophet he called to restore the church was named Joseph Smith. He gave Joseph Smith the Priesthood and with it he was able to restore the church again. The evidence we have of this restoration is the Book of Mormon. Which was translated through the Priesthood. We are to read it and pray to know of it's truthfulness. That is our simple invitation to the world. It us up to everyone to act and to receive. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

Jordan Homer
In the temples, we perform ordinances for ourselves but also for our deceased ancestors. WE believe in salvation even for those who have passed on. Paul taught the Corinthians about baptisms for those who have passed away without receiving such essential ordinances. Temples are a very sacred part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Only those who are living the commandment and keeping covenants that they have made with God can enter the temples. This is to safeguard and protect some very sacred ordinances and doctrines. Show more Show less
