Hi I'm Nadira

I am from San Diego California. I am a student at BYU-Idaho . I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a current student at BYU-Idaho, music major and I plan on becoming a musical therapist. I am the 2nd oldest out of my siblings.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church , my parents were converted to the church when they where young and all my life I had gone to church and church activities and never saw anything wrong with it . I just felt it apart of my life since i had been going to church for so long . It was about until I was 16 i started thinking to myself if the book of Mormon was true , how could I know its true if I had never read it ? So I put myself a goal , to read the whole book of Mormon and each day i would read a little bit of it. And as I was doing this , my days would feel better , school started to get less stressful and each time I read I just felt calm. I never had a vision or an angel appear to me but what I did have was the spirit helping me understand the things I read. And when it was time to bear my testimony in a Young Women's activity I talked about the book of Mormon and all of a sudden I just started crying, it was the spirit testifying me that what I was reading was true, what these prophets who wrote in these scriptures were called by God to help us in these times of darkness , and it was the best feeling in the world. That is why I am proud to call myself a Mormon and that is why I wanted to go serve the Lord on a mission , so I could testify to other people that the Book of Mormon is true and how I want them to have the same feelings that I had as I read it for the first time with real intent and with an honest heart.

How I live my faith

I am currently getting ready to serve as a missionary in the Dominican Republic, Santiago mission , and by doing so I talk to other people here in my hometown about what I believe in . Weather it be talking to my friends on Facebook or just out on a lunch date, I try to tell them how much God loves each of us and wishes for all his children to live with him again. I also love to go out with the missionaries and just simply share my own testimony on how the gospel has helped me in my life.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Nadira
As church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints we believe the bible and the book of Mormon go together. The book of Mormon completes the bible and vice versa. Throughout time, a lot of different religion developed and the bible was translated and changed according to the teaching of man. So know the Bible has lost a lot of its teachings but with the Book of Mormon it helps restore some of those lost teachings that were translated incorrectly. So the restoration was needed so the book of Mormon would be published and help us understand the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Nadira
You can read the scriptures , listen to others peoples testimonies of the gospel , but what will actually convert you is a sincere prayer to God to know if the things you are studying are true Show more Show less
