Hi I'm Jackson

I'm a Mormon from Boston who just set foot in Utah. For the next two years be adjusting to life here while I serve my mission

About Me

I come from a family with three younger sisters. I love to play basketball, jam on the piano, hit the beach and spend time with my friends. Although I wouldn't call myself a true Bostonian, I love all things Boston: sports teams, food, culture, you name it! I just Graduated High School and am currently serving a mission in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Why I am a Mormon

One of the defining characteristics about this church is the idea of searching and finding out truth for ourselves. While in my teenage years I experimented and asked God for myself if the things I was reading, hearing and participating in were true. At that young age I received an answer to my prayer. Words can't adequately describe the experience I had when I received that answer from my Heavenly Father. All I can say is that I knew that without a doubt the church I was -and still am- a part of is led my Jesus Christ. It is truly the same church he organized while on earth that has been restored in modern times. Over time whenever I start to question or doubt, I get back down on my knees and ask God for some additional understanding. This actually works. God knows each and every one of us individually, and as a result, knows how to answer our questions, concerns, needs and desires. I've come to know that God really does keep his promise told by Christ, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Mathew 7:7). How do I know these things to be true? Simply through the Spirit. God communicates to us through this "Spirit". When we feel that warm, happy and reassured we can know the Spirit is confirming truth to us. I experience this feeling when I read the scriptures, attend church and pray to my Father in Heaven. I know through experience that I've drawn nearer to God by being a member of this Church. I can feel myself moving forward on that path that leads back to our Heavenly Father when I'm actively engaged in this church. These things are open for anyone to know. It takes a leap of faith; I took it. And that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have a firm belief that if I put the things of God before everything else in my life, God will take care of the rest. I strive to make decisions in my life that would please my Heavenly Father. When I do this my life becomes easier with less worry and commotion. Reading the scriptures, praying each day and attending church each Sunday are things I do to draw closer to my Father in Heaven. I strive to share what I love and know about this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with those around me. I guess you could say I wear my religion on my sleeve (even though it happens to be in my shirt pocket at the moment). Its just part of who I am.
