Hi I'm Mark

I grew up in Idaho. I'm a husband, soon-to-be father, and occupational therapist. I enjoy soccer and woodworking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First and foremost, I am the proud husband of a beautiful wife and soon-to-be daughter. We have been married for a year and a half and live in Liberty Lake, Washington. I grew up in Boise, Idaho and am the youngest of 9 children. My educational path took me through Brigham Young University, Utah State University, and most recently the University of Utah, where I completed a master's degree in occupational therapy. From a career standpoint, I would like to specialize in hand, burn, and amputation rehabilitation. As for hobbies, I have always been an avid sports fan, particularly playing soccer. I also enjoy playing the piano/guitar and have recently developed a knack for woodburning. And, lest I forget, I love anything outdoors and exploring new places.

Why I am a Mormon

I have never known a life outside of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In fact, most of my ancestors trace back to the early Mormon pioneers who crossed the plains in covered wagons and handcarts. While I have a rich Mormon heritage and have been taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout my life, I have had to find out for myself if what I was being taught was true. These truths have been confirmed in my heart and mind through countless experiences. I continue to read and re-read the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other modern-day scripture and have always felt that what they contain must come from a loving Heavenly Father. I have listened to men who we revere as apostles and prophets speak and have had an overwhelming feeling that what they were saying was true and would bring peace to my life. Through these and other experiences, I have gained a testimony that God has a plan for all of His children that come to this earth. Despite our shortcomings, God provided a way for us to return to Him, which is through His Son, Jesus Christ. This plan is revealed through ancient scripture and modern-day prophets. As I have learned to submit my will to God's will and been obedient to His commandments as given by His prophets, my life has been filled with extreme happiness. The family is central to God's plan for us and teaches that families can live together for eternity. All that the Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches brings comfort to my mind and heart, gives me reason to hope, and helps me to have a brighter perspective on life.

How I live my faith

Personally, I feel like this is an ever-evolving process, as it is probably for most individuals. I have always striven to be a church-going and commandment-abiding person, but I have recently made more of an effort to seek God's will for me and my family through more fervent prayer, more dedicated study of the scriptures, and listening to modern-day prophets. We are new to our ward and community but have enjoyed getting to know many in our church congregation and look forward to serving in some capacity at church and in the community.
