Hi I'm Drew Buck

I grew up in a small town in Washington State. I am an entrepreneur and have started 2 lighting companies. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Washington State (Castle Rock) where our school (Toutle Lake High School) combined kindergarten through 12th grade in one building complex. There were only 500 students. Everyone new everyone and we were involved like a family in all school activities. I graduated and went on to attend Brigham Young University in Provo Utah, which was a big change for me. I went from 36 graduating students to 30,000 students. I really felt out of place and had a hard time adjusting. I did adjust though and made many good friends and had a great experience. I graduated with a BA in communications and a minor in Business. I went on to do an internship in New York City at Blair Television as an assistant to an account executive building unofficial TV networks and selling advertising space within those networks. I served a full time mission in the Texas Fort Worth Spanish speaking mission in 1991-1993. I learned spanish and gained a great respect for the Spanish people that have come to America to live the American dream. I met my wife at BYU (Anjanette Osgood). Came down with cancer and had to wait 11 years before we could have children because of the lingering effects of the surgeries and chemo. We now have 3 beautiful girls. Since then I have gone on to be an LDS bishop, started a $1,000,000 + landscape lighting company (now 17 years ago) and now am in the works of building a world wide custom lighting manufacturing business. I love life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was raised in the church. But, even more than that, I have searched out my Savior and my Heavenly Father in study and prayer and have felt their presence in my life. I have had many experiences where God has told me through the Spirit that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true church upon the face of the earth. My brother Jesus Christ, loves all people wether they are Mormon or not. We are all brothers and sisters and have the same opportunity to know our brother Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven. All people of this earth will have the opportunity, if they are truly seeking after God, to know what I have come to know. God has a plan for us, there is a true church, God's eternal work is for us to increase in knowledge and to become the best human being that we can be. God is perfect and he wants us to understand that we can become just like him because he is our Father. He is a perfect father that loves his children perfectly. He is patient, he is full of love, he is willing to give us all things in which it is his to give if we are just obedient. He does not try to control us, but rather he shows us his love and a better way to live through his commandments. His commandments were prepared for us so that we could find happiness and avoid the pitfalls of this world. You truly are set free if you master his laws because his laws are based on truth. There was a boy in the 1800's named Joseph Smith who was seeking after the truth. He was uneducated, he was nothing in stature in the eyes of the world. But, he sincerely was seeking the truth and he found it. He went and sincerely prayed in a grove of trees to know the truth and our Father in Heaven with his son Jesus Christ appeared to him. Joseph Smith did not choose to have this experience but God, even our Father chose to reveal to the world that he loves us and he knows us personally. The Church is true and God wants to bless us all.

How I live my faith

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ and had wonderful parents that have loved me and guided me to do good in this life. I have alway had the tendency to do good. I grew up in a small school and only me and my 2 sisters were Mormon. I was alway known as the church boy and was usually the designated driver after parties. I had the wonderful experience to share the gospel with two of my classmates and baptize them into the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was asked to say the graduation commencement prayer at my school. People respected me for my values. I attended all of my meetings and loved associating with my Mormon friends. I always had a desire to go on a mission and share what I knew and felt to be true. From a very early age, I felt the Spirit of God in my life. He has guided me and blessed me in all that I have chosen to do. At around 14 years old, I started praying that I would be able to converse with an Angel. I received the impression through the Spirit that that would never happen unless I had read what God had already given us, The Scriptures. I then made a deal with him, being naive to God's ways, that if I read all the scriptures then my desires to see an Angel would be granted. So, I really started on a journey. I did begin to read everything. Many nights I felt through the Spirit, the truthfulness of what I was reading. The more I studied, the more I realized how far away I was from my desire. The more knowledge I gained the more I realized that I was barely scratching the surface of knowing God. After all these years, I have put that desire in God's hands. He calls the shots, he knows whats best for me and he loves me and all the human race. It will be in his time. I have gone on to serve a full time Spanish speaking mission in the Texas Fort Worth Mission and have served in several positions in the church, including being an LDS bishop. All those years of studying the scriptures has prepared me to fulfill my mission to share.
