Hi I'm Brandon

I grew up in Utah. I know where I came from and where I am going, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up in the church and have had a lot of opportunity to serve others. I find joy in service and I glory in it. I have grown up with a love of sports. I believe that they have direct messages of the gospel in them. My family loves to quote movies and frequently at the dinner table we enjoy quoting to each other. I come from a large family of nine. I am the third oldest. I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters. We don't always get along but we all love each other very much. My mom was a convert and she has one of the strongest testimonies I know. she has a deep love for the savior that helped me to have a love for him as well. My father served a mission to England. He was born into the church and he has always taught me many wonderful life lessons. I love my family very much and I believe that our ancestors should be highly respected for their sacrifice and their examples because without them we would not be here.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. Some people think that because of this, I wont understand what it is like to have struggles and that I don't know what true pain is like. I am not perfect. Nobody in the church is. We all make mistakes. We are not ever going to be perfect by ourselves. this is when the atonement comes in. We have a savior who already paid the price for us to return back to our father in heaven. It is not alone by grace we are saved. he suffered so great so that we ourselves could have someone who knew what we went through and could know how to succor us. He knows how to comfort us. He knows us better than we know ourselves. His example is what all of the members of the church are striving for. I know that he is a true being who came and conquered the world and he will come again. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today who is President Thomas S Monson. He leads and guides our church here upon the earth. We went through a time without prophets which we refer to as the apostasy. The apostasy ultimately ended with the restoration of the church through the prophet Joseph Smith. Through his faith he learned the truth of Christ and was intrusted with the authority of god to act in his name. I know that it is true. I know that because of this we can have the power of god on the earth to bring much good to peoples lives and help them know their divine past and future. I love being a part of this church and I would not change it for anything.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed with many opportunities to serve. I first served as 2nd councilor in the deacons quorum. I had 7 deacons in the quorum and I enjoyed my service there. My dad taught me at a young age that we do our part for our heavenly father even when it doesn't sound the most fun because it is our way of showing appreciation for the wonderful gifts he has bestowed upon us. I have had a lot of responsibility working on fast offerings with my quorum. Going to take the sacrament to the home-bound, going home-teaching with my dad which I have cherished over the years. I was blessed with the opportunity to serve on my schools seminary council. In Utah Seminary is very prominent and they have wonderful buildings that are just across the street from the school and in my school we had a solid 70 percent majority lds influence. There are 1200 in my school. Seminary council is 15 people who are like the Student council at school but are called to serve the school and help build the testimonies of the student body. It was difficult but very rewarding and I have learned and grown in so many ways through these experiences. Some people have asked me why I hold my self to such a high standard of living when it would be so "easy" to just let myself drink alcohol or do drugs or submit myself to pornography but I feel like my Heavenly Father has asked me to live a certain way and to keep my body clean. It is a precious gift. It is a temple in the way that our heavenly fathers spirit is present in it. Because of this I stay obedient to the laws and commandments of god because we need the holy ghost in our lives in this tough and challenging world we live in.
