Hi I'm Sarah Holbrook

I'm from Utah. I served a mission in the Philippines. I have a big family. I love books, writing, and music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the eighth child of ten and have amazing parents who have raised me well in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Growing up I have always had a love for music and dancing. I played the clarinet in elementary school and all through high school. I participated in Marching Band in high school, which was a great learning experience for me. I love learning and did really well in school. I love to read a lot. I have read The Book of Mormon more than any other book, and it's by far my favorite. I especially loved English and Creative Writing classes. After I graduated I got my first job at a Taco Time and worked for almost a year before serving a mission. I served in the Philippines Cebu Mission until spring of 2016, speaking the Cebuano language. I love the Filippino people, and wish to return to visit them as soon as I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel at a very young age. The contributing factors in my testimony were: family scripture study and prayer, children songs containing simple truths about gospel principles, and going to church regularly. When I learned to read my parents bought me my own set of scriptures. When I first read them I started with 1st Nephi Chapter 1, verse 1. When I read the words of Nephi I just knew he once lived and was a prophet of God. I had this experience when I was either 7 or 8 and did not recognize that it was the beginning of my testimony of the Book of Mormon until much later. Since that experience my testimony has developed through daily prayer, receiving witnesses from the Holy Ghost, and showing my faith by keeping the commandments. It has taken many years, but now I know for sure that Jesus loves me enough to suffer for my sins and afflictions. He gave up his life and was resurrected, making it possible for me to live with my Heavenly Father again someday. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's church on the earth today, it was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith and today it is led by a prophet of God, Thomas S. Monson. I know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God, that it testifies of Jesus Christ, and contains a fullness of the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I love the Lord, Jesus Christ. I am his disciple and strive to serve him in the small choices I make each day to do good and be good. I pray often to my Heavenly Father, sincerely and with faith. I study the word of God in the scriptures and the words of modern day prophets. I strive to keep my covenants through faithful observance of all of God's commandments. I repent and strive to become more like my Savior Jesus Christ. I actively participate in church meetings, especially sacrament. In all these things and in many other components of being a Latter-day Saint, I strive to show my love for my Father in Heaven and my Savior, Jesus Christ.
