Hi I'm Tim Swingle

I am a runner and like to do 5K races, but also many other sports. I enjoying spending time with friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Houston, Texas, but have lived in many different places, including Louisiana, Singapore and New York. Currently I live in Texas with my parents, 6 brothers and baby sister. I am the third oldest. I recently graduated from high school and after my mission in the Argentina, Resistencia mission will attend BYU. I expect to study computer programming while there. I enjoy running and did cross country and track and field during high school, but also enjoy playing pick up games of soccer with my friends and brothers. I am an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. I enjoy hiking in the mountains, and have been to the Adirondacks in New York and the Rockies in Colorado. It is amazing to be able to view the scale and beauty of God's creations.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS church, and was baptized when I was eight. My testimony of the church came in parts, mostly starting in my early teenage years, first gaining a testimony of the church, then the Book of Mormon and prayer. Although I have made mistakes in my life, I know that through the Atonement of Christ all sins can be washed away and I can be made clean again. I also love the Gospel for the fact that through it, families can be together forever. Although we fight at times, we all love each other and have and continue to make sacrifices to each other. It will be painful to leave for two years on a mission and not be able to see them, however I know that it is worth it to be obedient and follow the Lord's commands. I know that through righteous living, diligent study and prayer, everybody can gain a testimony of the Gospel as well. If all were to read the Book of Mormon and pray faithfully about it I know that they too could gain a testimony of its truth and the restored Gospel.

How I live my faith

I have been a part of many different congregations as I have moved around, and have had the opportunity to serve in leadership positions in several different places. I also have been a leader in the Boy Scout troop before. Currently I am about to serve my mission in Argentina. I have home taught several different families, and have found that I feel the most successful when I am able to provide service to them. I often talk to my friends about my faith, and like to answer their questions whenever I can. I have given one of them a Book of Mormon, gone to church sites with some, and had mission discussions with another. It is really interesting to help them learn more about the church and how they react, and they always respond in a respectful way. Even people I do not know as well often notice that I am different and have mentioned, for example, the fact that I don't swear, tell dirty jokes, etc... I have helped in service projects many times. As an Eagle Scout I collected books and toys for a children's hospital. I have also helped out at other Eagle projects, including renovating a park, helping at an assisted living home, and a food drive. I have helped many people move. Although service can be extremely difficult at times, it is always rewarding.
