Hi I'm Hailey Romero

I am skilled at sneezing. I am currently a missionary in the Iowa Des Moines mission, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a tall, indecisive 19 year old. I love to hike, longboard, and spend time in the mountains. I am afraid of tornadoes, which is funny considering that I am serving in Iowa. I studied for a year at Weber State University, and I have intentions of pursuing nursing, but we'll see how many times I change my mind before then. I was a medical technician at an assisted living before my mission, and it was such a great experience getting to know the residents there. They have incredibly strong spirits despite their physical weaknesses. Which is why I love being a missionary. I have the opportunity to meet so many strong spirits and teach them about God's plan.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I chose to be. My parents are less-active members of the church, but they have been extremely supportive of my sister and I attending church. Members of my ward have always been generous in giving us rides and sitting with us in sacrament meeting. Although I got baptized at the accountable age of 8, it was entirely my choice, and I could not be more grateful for that decision that I made at such a young age. It will forever impact my life. I continue to stay strong in the gospel because I know what my life is like without it. I know the darkness and sense of confusion that I feel when I am not close to my Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that they love me despite my constant shortcomings, and are always willing to forgive me. I can absolutely testify of the power of prayer. All our Father in Heaven asks is that we ask. I know that when we make the gospel a priority, everything falls into place. I can't wait to see what this next year and a half brings.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving my Heavenly Father. I have learned that all that I have and am is a gift from God. The only thing I can truly give Him in return is my will. Because of my mission, I left something I love for something I love even more. It was not, by all means, an easy decision. I thought about the idea for months before I finally decided to turn to my Heavenly Father for guidance. I didn't get a yes or no answer, as most people don't. But shortly after I prayed, I read my scriptures and read 3 Nephi 14:14- 14 Because strait is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. I had an overwhelming feeling that although the options I was deciding between were both good, and righteous paths; there was a better choice out of the two. I wanted to help bring those who are ready to that narrow path. There is no doubt that things are more difficult for me since I made that decision, but the words of President Gordon B. Hinckley are of great comfort to me. "You will come to know that what appears today to be a sacrifice will prove instead to be the greatest investment that you will ever make."
