Hi I'm Randy

I'm a husband, father and grandfather. I'm a software engineer by profession. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a devoted husband and father of three daughters. We now have three grand-children to liven things up more. I love my profession as a software engineer. Learning new technological advances and creating innovative software solutions is extremely rewarding. I've been at it for nearly 35 years now and it never seems to grow old. I enjoy the outdoors, mountain and desert grandeur's, hiking, camping and occasionally fishing (not very good at it however). Two of my favorite locations are the Sawtooth Mountains in central Idaho and the Oregon coast. My recreational passion is bicycling, I've been an avid cyclists for about ten years now. At the age of 56, I did a century ride with my nephew. I'm slowing down a bit now, but I've ridden about 600 miles this summer, and like the health benefits of bicycling.

Why I am a Mormon

I became personally converted and committed to my faith through a sincere study of the Book of Mormon many years ago. As an older teenager, I read the Book of Mormon in its entirety, and then made it a matter of personal prayer to know how it applied to me. I felt an overwhelming excitement about the things I was reading concerning an ancient people who ebbed and flowed in their faith and then were blessed with a personal visitation by Jesus Christ, announcing himself as their resurrected Lord and Savior. It all rang true to me! I came to know that Christ is our redeemer and the Savior of all, both the living and the dead, those in the old world and here in the western hemisphere. I am grateful that my faith and religion reinforce and solidify family relationships here and now, and also for the knowledge that these relationships may continue into the next life as we follow Christ's teachings and receive the saving ordinances of the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I'm very involved in Church activity. I love to attend our worship services each Sunday; it gives me an opportunity to reflect on the goodness and blessings that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ constantly pour down upon us. I love to be associated with an organization that has high standards and with fellow members who practice a high degree of integrity and virtue. My wife and I serve as Area Family History Advisers. We help leaders in other congregations here in West Jordan promote Family History involvement by local church members. Family History is awesome, I love discovering the identity of my ancestors and thereby learning more about who I really am and where I came from. I've discovered that Ernest Hemingway is my second cousin and that I'm also related to Cindy Crawford (who's grandparents were Hemingways). I also enjoy other service opportunities provided to church members. Our welfare program is awesome, it gives me an opportunity to perform manual labor occasionally, such as weeding crops at a church farm, or working in a local soap factory. The goods produced by these activities are donated to the disaster victims or the less-fortunate. It feels good to lend a helping hand!
